Decent selection, but unless something is on sale you can usually find it cheaper elsewhere. My main complaint, and reason for leaving this review at all though is I purchased a controller being told I that I could get a refund if it doesn't work, after explaining that a previous third-party controller also did not work for a few specific games. However, when bringing the controller back with the receipt the very next day because it didn't work on those specific games I previously mentioned, I was told I would get in-store credit only. A refund, and in-store credit are two different things. Now I'm stuck choosing between a controller that only works on half of the titles I want, or store credit so that I can buy a DVD or one of those dumb pop figures. --- Edit: After deciding to return for the credit (now 2 days out), Justin was able to assist me and swapped the controller for what would've been an 'upgrade', free of charge. While I was there a few other people came in with their own product issues and Justin seemed eager to help them as well. Store policy may not be the best, but this particular employee had some great...
Read moreI just went into Game X-Change to sell my laptop, which used alone is $299.99, the girl behind the counter said they wouldn't give the price I was asking, and then only offered me $22. The computer still worked fine, ran and the whole works, yet they low balled me in giving me a price of only $22. She tried using the excuse of: "We can't give the price you are looking for, we just look up online what it's worth on our computer." I did my research last night, I know how much a used one is worth, and it isn't $22. This place is a joke, I 100% would not recommend selling here. Another reason as to why not to sell here, is because they will buy your product(whatever it is) and then put it on the shelf for a higher price. This is called Price Gouging, which is illegal according to the Oklahoma statute: Title 21, Section 871. I will be writing to their HQ located in Springdale, Arkansas. Do not sell anything here, they don't know what they are talking about 99% of the time, not knowledgeable, and they will give you a low-ball price then turn around and sell it for a higher price. This place is...
Read moreThis game exchange in particular seems to have a decent selection of rare vintage games. Ive had the most luck finding rare snes games here out of the other game exchanges.
My only qualm with this game x change specifically is the slow decline in customer service. Dont get me wrong, the staff has always been nice and helpful but sometimes the staff will prioritize checking in stuff from a customer, which can be a lengthy process, over selling stuff to another. Leaving me hanging for up to 20 minutes to get something out of the case.
On broader terms, the game x change as a whole has started to feel more like a pawn shop than a vintage game store. I mean, i like some of the game related novelties, but I've seen tvs and a used electric drill for sale, thats just odd in my opinion.
I'll still always be a returning customer however i will also probably continue to be perplexed by some the businesses decisions. I hope the strange stocked items are an effort to broaden sales demographics and not a desperate attempt to keep thier head above...
