CAUTION: Check your DIN settings! My daughters skis were adjusted by Ski Mart at a 6 in the front and 7 in the back. She is a 10 year old intermediate skier who is 85 pounds. When we got out for our first day of the season she could barely get her boot in her binding which is when I noticed this. When I got back to Seattle I took her skis to another shop and they were outraged - she could have definitely been injured had she fallen as the ski would not have released. This is my third year renting from Ski Mart so her information was on file in addition to me being present when they adjusted the skis and me telling them the skis were for a child.
In addition, my experience renting this year was very difficult. I reserved premium skis and they had none in stock when I arrived. I rented what they had, but ended up driving back from Seattle a few days later to try to upgrade. The person I worked with (Will?) was super helpful and I bought a pair of skis for my son and he managed to find a pair of premium skis for my daughter. I could not take her skis home as they did not have any bar codes in stock. I left my sons skis behind to be tuned.
I got a call a few days later saying my sons skis were ready. I asked if my daughters were ready yet but no one knew. After talking to several people, I found out the bar codes were not in yet but I got a phone call every day from Ski Mart telling me to pick up my sons skis after having explained I was not making a separate trip from Seattle to pick up just one pair of skis.
I kept receiving calls telling me to pick up my sons skis and I kept asking if the bar codes were in for my daughters skis. Finally, a manager (Leah?) assuring me that the bar codes were in. I made the trip from Seattle, and, no bar codes. I asked them to figure out a solution because I did not want to come back a fourth time. They simply ran next door to Sturdevants to get a bar code which left me with the impression I could have picked up the skis much earlier and saved myself additional trips back and forth.
The disorganization I experienced is totally understandable with the staffing issues every business is experiencing, but when it crosses a line with safety (DIN settings) it...
Read moreFirst shoutout to Ben!! He steered me to my sons ski and I felt I made the right decision even if its a bit pricier than my original target price.
Ok buckle up for this novel ;) my boys have been skiing since they were 5 and I am very frugal! Well we can agree that skiing and frugality doesn't go hand in hand. We managed to get used skis for most of the time on ski swaps. But now my kids are teenagers, and have advanced with their skills, I decided to visit the "Brand new aisle". I wasnt very comfortable even if some skis are 30-50% off.
So I searched the cheapest skis with bindings and its around $350 !! ;)
Bindings are at their ski rental area, not on the display so i cudnt see what's included on my first purchase.
When I looked at the bindings that came with it (look brand) it felt a bit flimsy with plastic, it didnt give me the confidence for my kid. I showed Ben a video of how my son ski, he was jumping off 8 foot ramps.. and we both agreed that we need a better more durable ski and binding.
This is not to the fault of the first person who assisted me, as I failed to show him the video of my son skiing, He also agreed abt a better ski which was only $70 more, after seeing the video
2nd shoutout to Will on the snowboard department, who was straight up in answering my quuck snowboard question. I wanted to know which binding is best value.. (Union force classic) . He didnt pressure me to purchase as he also thinks my 10 year old binding shoud be good for 1 more season. Best part he ran my board for a quick wax...
Overall the service people were good. I know they are a bit pricey but you get what...
Read moreTerrible customer service. We booked an appointment (12/28/2020 - 6pm) for Ski rentals and as we reached there we saw a line outside their store. Since we booked the appointment we went straight to the door and asked the store rep about our appointment. She was also guiding those standing in line who are store walk-ins. She checked our appointment and said we booked for store shopping and not rentals. I showed the appointment confirmation email which I had received which clearly said “Ski rentals, boots fitting and store shopping”. Boy that sparked so much anger and the store rep started shouting at us saying “Look all these people standing in line? They are waiting for rentals but don’t have an appointment. So you didn’t book your appointment right!”. And she also added that she has been doing this job since the morning and she is tired of speaking to us. But she gladly went to the people in line and started conversing. It almost felt she profiled us and did this on purpose. I don’t know how else to think about this!
We book an appointment and come with the appointment only to be harassed by a store employee even before entering the store. We have decided never ever to shop at this store and will also be gladly telling our friends and family the same.
Thank you for nothing...
