I’ve been going to this field ever since I’ve started to play airsoft. So I can safely say I know much about Hollywood Sports than the average Joe.
To start off, the maps are pretty niche, they all have a somewhat different feel but majority are mainly 3-way maps aka maps that have three different routes to meet the enemy team left, right, or middle but are still fun. The only shitty part about the maps is since there is also paintball both paintball and airsoft share the majority of the fields. So, at times when walking onto maps or traversing other maps to get to others you might get hit with a paintball from a ongoing game that you walk past or simply get a bunch of paint all over since the maps have load of paint residue since they are shared with paintballers.
However, Airsofters only have 2 dedicated fields that aren’t shared with paintballers. Being Combat Center and Cajun Terror that are sometimes combined if there is a lot of players.
Refs is somewhat a hit or miss sometimes you get a good ref that knows how to keep the fun going or maintain a bunch of man children and sometimes you get a ref that is boring or doesn’t know how to handle himself. However, most of the time usually Refs are on their “A” game. The staff besides the refs I’ve experienced are always cool and chill and relaxed, they bring up conversations and make you feel welcomed and are always helpful.
Now cheaters, I haven’t come across much or little to no cheaters while playing here. Mostly everybody is always cool and plays with Honor. Also, a lot of newbies most of the time which I prefer cause that usually means games are going to be more relaxed and casual. Also, like in any place you go there will be one in a 100 people a cheater or a little white blonde kid with a HPA M4 who thinks he’s the shit because his Mom bought him 2000$ worth of airsoft stuff, then proceeds to eat shit in the mud and complains nobody is calling their hits.
Rentals - I can say the rentals for at least the firearms is “Eh” it seems the Park hasn’t renewed the rental gun inventory in a while so at times the rentals might malfunction or be not properly working. The staff are usually quick to assist but it’s still a hassle and which is why it can be upsetting especially to first comers.
Final thing I want to say is the staffs speed into organizing a game. I don’t know why but I’ve noticed those mentioned that it takes forever for refs to organized or start the first game? I’ve never had the issue usually refs are pretty quick with starting the day and most of the time when the first game starts other players are not even ready yet. For renting a airsoft party package deal,or the rent a party deal where you get your own private games, I’ve never experienced it, never bought it, or never thought of getting it so I can’t put my opinion on it.
Overall, this park is not bad and gets hate it does not deserved. This park is a simple, fun, and welcoming. Which is why I definitely recommend coming here. Yes it’s not perfect and there might be some issues here and there but it doesn’t deserved to be label as a “Do...
Read moreUPDATE: HSP has begun using the alpha and bravo units so now little kids can go against others in there age group. Hsp is getting better but the variety in games isn't that strong yet. Theres some just not as much as I'd like but thats personal preference I bumper up from 3 to 4 stars since hsp has done this thank you
I used to think this place was great, until I went to SC village. Way more varities in games but one problem I had at SC village was after you pay 28 dollars, you have to pay another 10 to continue playing after 4:30. Anyways, SC village had two groups. ALPHA and BETA. ALPHA had all the "pro" players or the players with the faster shooting weapons so to say, and group B was for the intermediate player. I loved how they did this as it evenly matched out the players and more games were ran this way. Thats what I wish HSP would do here. I think its a great concept. My problem with HSP is cheaters and refs do nothing about it. I was at chrono and an employee was getting his green gass gun checked, it was shooting at 465!!!! AND GUESS WHAT? THE DUDE TOLD HIM TO SHOOT SOME ROUNDS SO THE FPS GOES DOWN, the guy comes back after 10 minutes and hes gets chronoed at 403, he lets him pass. That defeats the purpose after he fills it with gas hes back at 465. I was personally shot by him and some of my other friends were too, all shot within 5-20 feet, every single one of us was bleeding from his high fps gun. And i dont mean a normal little bleed from being shoot, these were wounds size of a penny or so and they swelled bigger then any other shot i had ever taken by a BB. Refs were no help, (the guy was an employee thats probably why they did nothing)after i told them about how hot his gun was spitting they just told me "it passed chrono so it's legal" disgusting. And to make it worse the lady behind the counter charged us 28 dollars after we asked her if admission was 20 on sundays, she said no. My friends got charged 20 but not me. I went back and the manager said come back later ill fix it then. I came back later and they gave me a free admission for next time. I guess it was worth it but it was dealt with kinda poorly and how did an employee not know to charge us 20 instead of 28? HSP is an awesome place with some cool maps to play with but it really sucks when all the cheaters ruin it and refs do nothing. Refs are pretty lenient here compared to SC village. At SC two sponsored players where kicked for not having barel plugs. Thats the way it should be, not favoritism just fair rules that apply to everyone. It's a cool place to go to. Even though i had a bad time that day i still enjoy HSP, because its not like that every day. Ive been there a few times now and its fun when the players dont cheat and when you dont get shot at by a gun with 465 fps...
Read moreDefinitely the park to go to! From the outside it doesn't look like much, but once you enter the parking lot and start walking up, you realize it is a paintballer's and airsofter's dream. The park hosts airsoft and paintball games as their main purpose, but they also have a banquet hall, some form of indoor soccer, and for younger children a couple of less painful game styles such as laser tag.
I have been to many airsoft and paintball fields from Florida to Virginia, Texas to California and many in between. The largest factors that make a park worth going to over and over are the staff and the fields. Hollywood Sports is the kind of place that can set a standard in both that is hard to beat.
The manager personally took the time to show my friend, a first timer, and myself around the park and explain how everything worked without us having paid a dime yet. He expressed interest in both sports and while having a personal bias to one he didn't fail to be knowledgeable and sell both equally.
The referees, the real make it or break it of any park, where all competent and friendly. Always willing to listen to the players about anything from problems with players to the next field to play.
The fields themselves are varied in every way. They each have their own theme like Mad Maxx, Combat City, and Apocalypse just to name a few. They vary in size from large 16 on 16 worthy fields to fields that can be enjoyed by a 3 on 3 game. All fields are played with varying amounts of players and my friend and I both enjoyed every game whether we had enough players to fill the area or where hunting down the last one (or being hunted down ourselves).
The rentals function which, unfortunately, is more than I can say for some parks. When my friend and I both had problems with our weapons and the staff fixed it by replacing the malfunctioning equipment immediately with a smile and without complaint.
The staff around the park not directly involved with the games where also friendly and helpful.
Finally, our experience at Hollywood Sports was one I would want any newcomer, to either sport, to have. Proof of that was in the enthusiasm which my first timer friend talked about his experience and how he wants to buy his own equipment and start playing when we get back...
