Booked Home Depot Bellingham to put in the carpet in my recently widowed mother's home. She is a senior with limited health so my husband, myself and my brother flew into town to oversee. We needed the carpet done by a certain date and after assurances from Home Depot that they would be able to honour that scheduled date we paid in full. We paid to have light furniture moved and carpet removed and hauled away as well as new carpet installed. The day before the scheduled installation I received a call confirming that the carpet would be installed the next morning but was told we would now be responsible for removing all the furniture from every room as it was going to be only one man coming to the job and not a team as we had previously been told. The carpet install company used by Home Depot was Romanoff Restorations. We got up early the next morning and emptied all the furniture from the rooms. This involved putting much of it on the front lawn and stacking everything else in the living room/kitchen. By noon the scheduled installer had not showed and had not called us. I called Romanoff and they confirmed that he would be coming so we ripped out all the existing carpet and underlay ourselves and hauled it to the dump to make it quicker and easier for the installer to do the job when he finally arrived. By that point all the people that had been there to help had to fly back home so my mother and I were left alone to wait for the carpet installer to come. He never showed and never called. It's now the next day and no one is assuming any responsibility. My mother had to sleep amidst a pile of rubble in the middle of her living room and she still has furniture outside the house. My calls to Michael from Romanoff Restorations are not being answered and Home Depot keeps passing the buck to them. My mother's sister and brother in law flew in from California yesterday expressly to see my widowed mother and were supposed to stay with her from today on to help her out. They have now had to find somewhere else to stay since her home is in chaos and there is furniture everywhere and despite having paid $1300 for a job that was as never completed, no one will give us an answer as to if or when they are going to come to do it. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and unconscionable way to treat a vulnerable senior citizen. UPDATE: Finally drove down to Home Depot personally to try and straighten the situation out. The managers on duty did try to help but it was quickly evident that they have zero control over their installers. After waiting an hour they still couldn't give me a confirmed install date. I have just received an email stating that they will do the install this Saturday. Till then my mother is going to be living in a shambles. Will update as to whether Romanoff Restoration...

1st off, if you look even slightly "alternative" then prepare to be profiled by the 20 something y/o (crew cut, white, obviously ex military) armed guard.
I planned a long trip to Lowes, Home Depot and Harbor Freight to pick up quite a few different items for an upcoming project/renovation. Since the scope of my project is so vast, I decided to do a wall to wall in each store looking for the perfect tools. I was looking for everything from a gas pressure washer to a new welder and many things in between.
My girlfriend has multi colored hair and was wearing shorts, fishnets and high heel Timberland's. I have a slightly tinted hair and was wearing purple joggers, Doc Martins and a Carhartt vest. Also I wear a small chest bag covered in patches and she is never without a squishmallow backpack.
We both noticed the guard about 15 mins in when he started obviously walking in view of each isle that we went down and staring at my girlfriend until she made eye contact. He tried to look non shalant, as they do. Then minutes later the most conspicuous 6'3" 50 something y/o secret shopper that I have ever seen in my entire life started lingering next to us. He was yet again a crew cut, obviously ex military white male. His airpods, and whispers in a very "official, coded" manner as he turned his face away from me just confirmed the obvious.
My girlfriend was having anxiety, because she has been assaulted by loss prevention before, just for "looking suspicious", and this guy is armed and showing obvious prejudice. We ended up putting some stuff back, leaving some items in the cart, and just buying the weed killer that I really needed that day.
I don't know if I can bring myself to shop there anymore. It was my go to hardware store next to Hardware Sales, but that kind of stalking and profiling after the thousands of dollars that I have spent there is simply uncalled for.
*Relevant notes Multiple people screaming to themselves in another isle was the only thing that distracted him from us for the entire 45+ mins that we were shopping, then he was right back.
I made a loud comment to my girlfriend about a minute before we left about how bad the secret shopper was at his job and he wandered away almost immediately.
I'm white and my girlfriend isn't. We don't have anything against military members, it was simply the best way to...
Read moreThis is not just a review of HD Bellingham. This is a review the appallingly bad, virtually non-existent customer service of HD in general.
On May 22nd I placed an order online. I could have the items shipped to me in about 2 days for about $70 or I could pick them up at the store later for free. I chose the latter option because I didn't need the items immediately.
The ETA for the items changed several times, but on on Jun 1 the HD site said the items were at the store. I understood that they might not be available for pickup, but as I was going to be out of town a trip I stopped in on Jun 2 to see if I could pick them up. I could not, they had not been unloaded yet. I told the CS agent at the store I was going to be out of town. He said that would be okay as I had 30 days to collect the items. Everything to this point was okay, but that's where "okay" ended.
On Jun 4 I receive an email saying the items are available to pick up and that I needed to do so by Jun 11, which is before I will return from my trip. The email says I can call the store to arrange for a later pick up. I call twice and both times the number rings 20-30 times before I give up. I call the HD 800 number to see what can be done. While waiting to talk to an agent the phone system advises I will be able to answer a survey about my call after I talk to an agent, but I'm immediately taken to the survey. After I enter my results (not positive) my call is ended.
Now I try chat. EVERYTHING about chat is extremely slow. There are 5-10+ minute delays between every response. The chat agent needs my order number, billing zip code, full address, and an item from the order for "security" reasons. Finally I get to express what I need help with. The agent checks on my order and eventually comes back to say that since my order was ready on the 4th I would have to pick it up by the 11th. I think: um... I know that! That's why I'm talking to you! The agent says they can ask the store to hold the item, but there are no guarantees they actually will. um... I respond: yes, please let's do that [and thanks for NOTHING].
We'll see what happens. If my order is not there, I WILL NOT be shopping...
