Belmar is a beautiful beach town, but the beach needs a little touch of maintenance. It is not the cleanest beach I have been to as I saw some debris on the sand, but I have been to worse in NY. It also gets quite congested after a certain time with younger adults. The bathrooms here are surprisingly kept pretty clean.
Just an FYI to new visitors, you can get your $12 (adult cost) beach badge by paying through an app. Then, you present it to the agent at the booth to get your wristband. They don't accept credit cards/cash, just like Sea Girt. Children 13 and under can go on the beach for free.
Now, parking can be challenging. I didn't have issues as I drove down early on the weekend, and I was still a number of blocks away from the beach with regular free street parking. There are also not a whole lot of food options unless you grab something near or on 8th Avenue. Most of the options for food are along Main Street.
Even though this wasn't my favorite spot along the Jersey Shore, I would come here again. I would just do it on a weekday and try to avoid the...

Ocean Ave. is clean and easy to get across to the boardwalk and beach. The boardwalk has recently been replaced with Trek, a bit to hot to walk on during the summer months. The beach is just exquisite. The sand is fine and must be raked daily during the summer. The entrance to the water has a long sand bar so you can wait up to your knees for a long while until you dive into the Atlantic. There are pockets of places to get food and drinks but not the typical boardwalk with shops right up against the boardwalk. Bathrooms are easy to find and clean. Also a bit difficult to park on the street during the summer. The municipality could invest in a pay parking lot for beach goer's. Laid back and relaxing place to go for a little sand therapy. Belmar is a great place to go. So stay away and don't take my...
Read moreMy husband and were here yesterday... I was really excited for the butterfly fries and the two stars I am giving now it’s only for that! Delicious (we order with cheese and bacon) I think it was a little pricey for 11 dollars but it’s ok since it was a festival. Now I want to talk about the festival... place was packed, you could barely move, huge lines to get any type of food, a strong smell of fry oil (which is normal, but really gets you nauseous with all the people around), second point my husband got a gumbo from a restaurant tent (restaurant is right behind) and as much I think it’s bad to say that he has been in the bathroom and I have too since 5 am, I still think I need to share to alert people of food poisoning. I think it's a nice festival and everything and it’s nice to have such a huge option for food around the area, but I still think it’s good advice to be aware what you are ordering and think how long the food could have been...
