I love the beach in Belmar but only in the lower streets. 1st thru 8th Ave. Others crowded and very hard to park. But being physically handicapped I'm so sorry they do not respect the ADA. I have gotten told repeatedly that I CAN'T sit on the edge of the boardwalk while my husband has to park close to main street. I'm PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED!!! CANT WALK FAR AND CAN'T STAND LONG WITHOUT HAVING TO REST. I'm disabled walk with two forearm crutches yet I'm told to move along. If they had MORE HANDICAPPED PARKING ??? DA??? Now if I do find a space to park not in handicapped but in a regular spot I HAVE TO PAY!!!!! ICome on they are that HARD UP FOR MONEY. Now I understand GREED!!! BELMAR IS ONLY OUT FOR THE BUCK NO MATTER HOW THEY GET IT. Not enough handicapped parking spaces. None across the street from the boardwalk!!!! Everyone else can walk, I CAN NOT. Ok then I go home a badge I bought can't use unless someone else is with me willing to park almost on Main Street. Not NOT NOT HANDICAPPED HELPFUL AT ALL!!!! NOT EVEN MATS AT EVERY ENTRYWAY TO THE BEACH. Those mats make life easier for mother's, families but most of ALL HANDICAPPED POPULATIONS!!! THOSE WHO HAVE DIFFICULTY WALKING IN THE SAND, WHEELCHAIRS!! SO SORRY FOR THE HUMANS THAT WALK IN THE SAND EASILY. THEY WERE MEANT FOR THE HANDICAPPED!!!!! NOT BEACH COOLERS, NOT BEACH CARRIES FOR YOUR STUFF, THE HANDICAPPED. People have told me to move over let us pass. Let them pass. People wake up people with disabilities are being ignored. They would be there but for the ADA!!!!! We in USA do not have any handicapped beaches. Now look at Spain's handicapped beaches. I spent a summer there in 2007 and was in AWE OF THERE SERVICES FOR THE HANDICAPPED!!!! THE US SUCKS 100%!!!! Still lacks to this day. But I LOVE THE BEACH WITH ALL ITS hassles. Wish the disabled had better accomodations for sure. We are so far behind!!!!!!!!!!!...

Only come here if you want to feel like you’re living in a police state. Police constantly hovering over you, and you’re under constant surveillance from them to make sure you’re not drinking booze. We went on Friday 08/22/2025, a 2.5 hour drive from our home in PA and they were busting ppl left to right because they were drinking a wine cooler or a light beer. Mind you it was super slow that day. No thanks! Also it was noisy from all the construction equipment that was there moving the lockers around. The sand was nasty dirty too. They only have 2 or 3 places to eat there and the food at the place we tried, D’Jais Oceanview Bar and Grill was nasty as hell and over priced. The food was super oily and gave us all stomach problems that night. We went there looking to have a relaxing Friday off from work, and instead was stressful as hell from the heavy police presence there. What a nightmare. It was overboard and unnecessary. The crowd there was light and super chill - it was uncalled for. Maybe the town is strapped for cash and they see this beach as a revenue maker. Needless to say we’re never ever going back to this nightmare of a “beach”. Asbury Park Beach is infinitely better and has a...

Belmar is a very nice beach, maybe one of the best on the Jersey shore and we've been to almost all of them. The beach is very clean with plenty of trash cans and at the time we visited the water was beautiful, almost clear for the upper Atlantic. The crowd is family oriented and was pleasant when we visited. The beach does require a badge and the fee for daily badges is $8 per day (children 15 and under are free).

The parking situation will be tough if you arrive after 9a.m. but if you get there by 8:30 there's plenty of free parking on the west side of Ocean Ave. and on the side streets. 5th & 6th Ave have the most free parking with slanted head-on parking by the gazebo area.

The only caveat is that there are no "official" changing rooms. They do have rinse-off stations and bathrooms, which are very clean, but they don't want you changing in the bathroom. I think this is a beach for the locals/renters whom it's assumed will be going right back to their residence after the beach. Therefore that's something to think about, though if you rinse off really well, dry up and discreetly change and fast I'm not sure the bathroom attendants would...

Best boardwalk in the area after being destroyed from Sandy. Fall is the best time of year, weather is great and most summer visitors have gone home. The reason for the 4 stars is because it gets very crowded in the summer. Also, it can be tough to park and it is not free on the ocean side of Ocean Ave., but they finally have an app for phones that allows you to pay much easier than parking meters. The beach is kept clean and, unlike surrounding beaches, you can bring a cooler with food and drinks on the beach. There are also playgrounds for the children. Good pizza and ice cream across the street at Mamalukes and a Playa Bowls for a healthier option. Silver Lake is across the street from Taylor Pavilion. There is a nice walking path around the lake. Belmar also has an annual seafood festival at the Pyanoe Plaza so be sure to check this out; it's a lot of fun and good food!

I have been going to Belmar beach since 1978 when my best friend got her drivers license. Down in the single digit streets there is a great rooming house called the White House. The restaurant at that end of Belmar on the beach side looks beautiful and there is a great dock to walk out on. If you go to the beach more then 2 or 3 times a season get a season pass. Worth the money. There are great food trucks on the boardwalk and some cute shops to get beach toys, gifts, tourist things along with beach and sports gear. Many restaurants and shops on the main drag and the beaches and changing bathrooms are kept clean and maintained. The lifeguards aren’t muscle heads with an axe to grind, but college students that are well trained and polite.
