Overnighter in the Twilight Zone! No warning on the fact there is NO parking. Then you add the fact that the clerk finds it rude that a customer books online, and tells the customer this after 45 minutes of them trying to find a place to park to check in. Healthcare facilities have nothing on the wafting smell of vomit & urine that greets you in the lobby and throughout. You will want to avoid the bats flying around the common area as well. Do not pack more then a backpack as you will be hauling your bags up at least two flights of stairs to get to your room. Hall door on landing sounded like a squeeky Halloween prop, possibly because our room was located right next to it but could be heard downstairs in the Lobby and we were on the second floor! As every other guest left their rooms we were woken up by it. It could have also just been because there was a two inch gap under our room door that we could see people's feet through too. One never knowsđ¤ When my hubby sat on the bed the headboard on the bed fell forward almost crashing into his head. It was not attached to the bottom of the bed or the wall. Just slanted sitting there. Oh, and he had to hold onto me all night because he kept rolling off because it was lopsided, or slanted. After not getting any sleep due to after midnight check in, it was so nice for hotel maid to wake us by 9 because she was busy and wanted to clean our room. Check out after all, was at NOON. Showering was out of the question. No shampoo and only a bar of soap were given if you chose to. There was sand, hair, and whatever else in the shower not from us. Oh that is the one that was a foot and a half from the edge of our broken bed in the middle of the room. It was a rough stay however I was tired and one night was not going to kill us, we hoped. Is there a Belmar Chamber of Commerce because I am quite sure there are some code violations, wiring and many others. I do not believe there was anything handicapped accessible either.
Even with the discount for reserving online this place was a major rip off. The only positive about staying here was that my hubby and I have not laughed so hard at rediculousness and being creeped out in our lives! Thanks...
Read moreNot accommodating and unprofessional! We arrived to the hotel and the checked in. It was across front where beach which was nice but that was the only nice feature. It is run down and the inside smells of smoke. Our room had no screens on the windows and no AC. My sister and her BF came up to our room to get ready for a party, not 10 mins after we checked in. We had someone banging on our door. It was the man from the front desk. He said we we only checked in 2 people and canât have more guests in the room. We explained to him they were only getting ready and then we were all going to leave. They werenât staying over. He didnât believe us and said well if they are going to stay I have a room they can stay in. We explained for a third time they were not staying in our room.
After that we were already turned off to the whole environment and he was the final straw. My husband went downstairs and talked to him again and he told us we werenât allowed to have quests. Which was never stars to us while checking in. He asked for a refund and said If he could get housekeeping back to the room he would give us our money back. He asked him about the AC and windows and said âwait I thought you were leavingâ he told him well if we canât get our money back we want to be comfortable in the room. He said once again there was a screen on the window. He told him no and when we opened the window we had bugs and a bee fly in. So we packed up our stuff and left. They were extremely unaccommodating and rude. We are adults and were not trying to sneak in two other people into our small queen size bed room. Which my husband told him and he proceeded to not believe us and not...
Read moreI stayed with my mother and two children for a weekend getaway. The location was great, directly across from the beach tag hut and beach access. Everything else was horrible. It is hot and humid in the rooms; the small air conditioner and ceiling fan did very little. The rooms are tiny but nicely decorated. There are only two spots out front for parking. If those spots are full, it's nearly impossible to find street parking nearby. They have a beautiful pool! It was NOT OPENED. In the middle of summer. No. Pool. But the absolute worst part of our trip? Glenn. Please call ahead and see if Glenn is still employed BEFORE you book this decrepit hotel. Glenn, an employee of the Mayfair Hotel, POUNDED on our door at 7:30 am because my 2-year-old screamed twice during a tantrum. Glenn threatened to have the police come and "throw me and my kids out of this hotel" if he had to come back to tell me to shut my kids up one more time. Glenn was aggressive, threatening, and not hospitable in the least. Glenn also told me that it is "unacceptable" and "irresponsible" to travel with young children. You may only stay at this hotel if you are traveling solo or with a very quiet travel companion. They are not family friendly and do not want your children to stay at their hotel. Call before you book to verify that they have the amenities available that they claim to provide (read: the pool) AND make sure Glenn was fired before even stepping foot in this Hell Hole. Oh, and...
