If you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of downtown Parkersburg, just step beyond the floodwalls and meet the Ohio River. It's a beautiful place to bring a picnic, feel the fresh breeze coming off the water, and stroll with Fido. There is a long path along the floodwalls bordered with trees, grass and wildflowers alive with pollinators. You may even be fortunate to catch a barge going up or down the river. The view of the bridge is picture perfect. The grounds are well maintained and the restrooms are typically in good shape. Trash and recycling cans are available at various points in the park. Fishing is allowed with a license, and fines are enforced. During the late Spring through the Fall, you can board a genuine sternwheeler and head for the Blannerhassette Island. All of my out of town family and friends have really enjoyed exploring the Point, and the Blannerhassette Island. I highly recommend setting aside an entire day for fun and...

Point park. I love that place and so does my lil girl Mandy. (Dog) we go there often as we can on good weather days for walking all over this place. She loves getting as close to the water as she can get and especially on the rocks and watching the waves splash up on her. Unless it’s a dreary day or nightfall, you’ll always find quite a few people enjoying Point Park. That’s not to say we all don’t partake in our enjoyment of it on bad days, just not as many people. It’s place that’s hard to stay away from, so beautiful and during the summer they have the ferry take interested people to Blennerhassett Island, another beautiful place to visit that has history. I don’t think any of us are happy when the river crests and the flood wall at the Point is closed to where we cannot get in. But we can thank the good Lord we have that flood wall to keep us safe...

I have spent some time down at Point Park. I have watched some concerts and they have excellent seating for them. The restrooms are clean and are open to the public. After it floods down there it can be a little muddy. It has a great view of the river and bridges in the Parkersburg area. It's a great spot for pictures and has a spot to place your kayak in the water. It's a place for short visits but nothing you could really have a family...
