If you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of downtown Parkersburg, just step beyond the floodwalls and meet the Ohio River. It's a beautiful place to bring a picnic, feel the fresh breeze coming off the water, and stroll with Fido. There is a long path along the floodwalls bordered with trees, grass and wildflowers alive with pollinators. You may even be fortunate to catch a barge going up or down the river. It's a great spot for pictures and has a spot to place your kayak in the water. It's a place for short visits but nothing you could really have a family...
