If you genuinely love antiques and history this is the place for you!! For only 7$ this museum is completely worth it. The name of the museum is a little misleading because they have much more than just oil and gas history here. There are 3 floors absolutely jam packed with antiques and cool things to look at. I really liked the marble room and the basement full of parts and pieces.

This museum is a wonder! The building was originally a hardware store built in 1899. It still has almost all of the original features, and it's full of historical artifacts. It's a fascinating look at the oil and gas industry in West Virginia, and the beginning of our statehood as a result. Give yourself an hour or two to soak it all in. Wonderfully Groovy :)

Love our Experience to the Museum and can't wait to go back and explore more. Too much to look at for one day. Ivan and Cheryl were so helpful and informative and we really loved all the treasure to be seen there

Very interesting! You really get a sense of how hard this industry was from the start. This kind of work was not for the faint of heart. You get a real feel for how we need to keep going as a state to keep finding more planet friendly ways to extract as well as the need for alternative energy methods. So that we can lighten the need and ensure our demand doesn't over ride those needs. Measures taken now can add length to the supply. We need to respect our state lands and wildlife. The true history of just how hard these laborers worked makes me appreciate the current time. This museum is an...

My husband and I stopped by on July 6 and Mr Leo was warm and welcoming. As an industrial historian from WVU I found the exhibits interesting and well maintained. in addition to the history of the oil and gas industry there are informative rooms in the importance of the region and its leaders in the formation of the state and the Civil War. The McDonough library provides a well organized collection of both primary and secondary sources on the state and regional...

The website shows they’re opened 12-5 on Saturdays, we drove over two hours specifically for this museum. The hours on the window show 12-5 and the open sign was in the window was up but the door was locked and nobody answered a phone call. We went to the welcome center and they said they should be opened but couldn’t get ahold of anyone so I sent a Facebook message only to be...
