We had been there several years ago and enjoyed the much longer boat ride. The new very short ride was followed by being ushered to food lines for an outdoor picnic. This is nothing like it was when we were escorted to a formal dining room with white table clothes, candles and real silverware. We were seated and served a wonderful meal. At one point the chef came out and visited at our table. A very enjoyable evening.

We drove for 2 1/2 hours and brought the former mayor of Beckley with us. The image that we had depicted from our previous experience simply was not there. We were ushered up to food serving lines. The tough turkey dinner was not enjoyable to say the least. Our next part was the horse and buggy ride in dark of evening. The torches along the path helped a little but the points of interest commented upon by buggy driver could not be seen or enjoyed because of darkness. Next we were pointed out the direction of the tours. A bit of wait but not near as much as th 50 yards of people lined up on path awaiting their time to do the tour.

I have never been so disappointed in this visit. My overall opinion is that it was redesigned to bring many people there and get as much money as possible from them and provide little in return. At one point, we felt like cattle be herded to eat in a hurry so next group could have a place to sit down without spilling food from their flimsy paper plates. Yes it was quite a disappointment to see how greed for money has changed the quality of service for people attending. No— I could not recommend...

I very much loved touring Blennerhassett Island! The ferry ride was relaxing and had fun facts - there is an upper and lower deck as well as a ramp to get on the boat. It was incredibly hot the day I went but the boat crew boys worked their tail off.

The island is beautiful and stroller, wheelchair, and fat person friendly. Everything is in close proximity and flat to walk, much under shade. The gift shop is small and mainly knickknacks but they folks working were INCREDIBLY kind. So were the workers of the booths and wagons. I did not do a wagon ride as I really wanted to get some exercise in and lots of small kids and families on the wagons.

My docent was incredible. Knew tons of the history and even threw a few “Hamilton” jokes in. I was also very impressed the island worked hard to say “enslaved people” which is the correct terminology! The house is gorgeous and does have an upstairs to see. Can take pictures without flash. Really enjoyed my time, said about 3 hours on the island.

The mainland museum is fun and eclectic collections of local history and Blennerhassett objects. I wish I had done the museum first and then the island, but can be done in either order.

Good for any one of any age, but the little kids in my tour group were definitely fidgety in the heat. I went as a single 26 year old woman who loves history and it was a total gem in my trip for a friend’s wedding. Would strongly recommend as it is cheap per person and...

Boat ride was nice. What i seen of the island was nice (we spent maybe 30 minutes on the island and was rushed off). However our "45 minute" manchin tour was 15 minutes. The tour guide blamed it on short staffing. We spoke to the woman at the ticket booth, her attitude was unpleasant and plain rude. She asked who our tour gude was we discribed him and she said his name and said hes done that before and he shouldnt. The supervisor came over and handed us 2 manchin passes (in which to do that again we wouldve had to pay $24 again to ride the boat over). So we just asked could we get the money back (only for the tour) and he said itd make his drawer short as they had already closed down. My husband said well we didnt get what we paod for so wed like our money nack He said he'd go get it and never returned. She then statted saying we should've came sooner it tales 2 hours to do the whole island so i said you shouldnt sell tickets for 2 hours before they close the Island. She shoved $10 in our hand and said there case closed. Very rudely. Wouldnt reccomend dealing with her or the supervisor if at...

After exploring options on BringFido, we found that the Blennerhassett Island State Park looked to be a good spot to let our Tripod Corgi explore on her cart. The ferry ride was very nice and relaxing. We initially purchased tickets for 2PM, but arrived earlier than expected from Cleveland. Its nice to know that your timed ticket is not strict and that you can board whenever. Upon arriving on the island, we found the map outlining the activities, which was very limited. There's the wagon and mansion tour. Since we had our dog, we couldn't do either so we decided to walk the route that the wagon takes to see the historical sites. With such a large island, I wish there were more activities to do. It seemed the best part of this experience was the ferry ride.

Beautiful island to visit. You'll want to get there early to have time to see everything at a good pace. I recommend doing the wagon ride first so you can have an introduction to the sites to see along the road, then you can walk the road at your own pace and read the signs. There are some picnic tables along the road so you could take a lunch along the way. You'll want to pack water and sunscreen if you plan to walk the road or rent bikes. The guides on the island as well as the ferry captain were knowledgeable about the island's history and the Blennerhassett family. We didn't have time for both the island and the museum, so if you want to do both, it might be best to plan for two days so you don't have to rush.
