I had been in extreme discomfort in my upper and lower back. My physical therapist office was closed and would not be open until Tuesday as it was Memorial weekend's Saturday. Not a lot of hope for relief until then.
I did a Google search and ran across this place. Their website offered online scheduling and I saw there were appointments available in the late morning so I booked a half hour session as my healthcare provider doesn't cover massage therapy and so I would have to pay out pocket. About a hour and a half before my appointment I received a phone from them confirming my appointment, which was a relief, because even though I received an email confirmation I worried it may have been autogenerated. While confirming my appointment I was asked if I would prefer a hour session, which of course I would have, but the funds I have available wouldn't have covered it. I was offered a discounted price which was very generous of them. My wife, whom I'm playing nurse maid to while she recovers from knee replacement surgery offered to pick up the difference so I accept their generous offer.
When I arrived early as instructed as a first time patient, I observed the place was clean, nicely laid out and felt very familiar. Turns out it was my old Chiropractor's office from over 20 years ago, which for massages, is a nice layout and size for the rooms even allowing for the presence of my service dog Oscar.
After filling out the paperwork, the masseuse came out and told me it would just be a few minutes as she'd just finished a massage the client was just finishing getting dressed and then the room would be made ready. One thing I liked about the paperwork was an option to pick your preference as to the amount of verbal intercourse between you and the masseuse. I've never been given this option before and to be honest, I like to relax, and not pay attention to someone talking so this was wonderful.
My masseuse, who I believe was Amy Kowalski, like I said there wasn't a lot of conversation at my request and I was in a terrible amount of pain when I first got there, was great. I'm an old broken down man and over the course of my lifetime I've had a lot of massages in many different places by a lot of different masseuses. I'd have to say this experience was as good as any I've had. I left there feeling about 90% better which was better than I expected. Here it is Monday morning and I'm about 95% so things are working out. I felt bad because I'm pretty broke so I couldn't afford to leave a tip but that didn't seem to be an issue which I'm grateful for but she certainly deserved a big one.
While I can't afford a frequent visit, being retired, I'd love to go again. Who knows, maybe my friends and family will pool their money and buy me a gift certificate for my birthday or Christmas present, (Hint Hint).
All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I highly...
Read moreUpdate:I received an email response back from the owner who took the time to explain how my deductible works (I have had two kids on my insurance so I already know how it works) however I appreciated the time it took her to respond. I also edited my previous statement of 148/hr as it was actually 120/hr that I was billed which is still mind-blowing but whatever it is CO and people pay crazy amounts for things. I still will not be returning or recommending as I wish I would have been told that they bill insurance higher as I was under the impression it would be the same 80/hr amount. Thankfully I found another place that bills the insurance what I would normally pay so I get the most out of my benefits every year. Do your research and find out what you will be getting billed so there are no surprise. Lesson learned and we can all move on.
Found out my insurance is finally paying for a massage so I was super excited to get one covered, and ended up getting a massage that was okay not really a deep tissue but it was relaxing at least I ended up falling asleep. Anyways I was shocked when I got the bill for $120 for an hour massage. I thought maybe the massage therapist was just extremely expensive so I booked another one to see if she could do a better deep tissue and while it was relaxing it still wasn't working out the knots like I needed. I called back to see how much they charge for an hour massage and was told it was $80. I'm all for trying to legally scam the system when you can as long as you're not hurting anyone but they way over charged it because they could build my insurance which is pretty s* and absolutely not worth $80 let alone $120. Will be letting everyone know not to go back there and if you do don't tell me have insurance can't see how that's legal. Save your money go somewhere else that's...
Read morei was originally nervous because from my doctor's office i had a received a bad ldl report coupled later with plaque on the heart problem both of which i didn't expect and then not very good followup. natasha helped with suggesting diet alternatives and i appreciated that she deferred when i asked questions that probably only my doctor could answer. the problem for me is that she suggested that the blood tests that i took quite a few years ago were invalid which puts me in the position of paying for yet another series of tests and my tendency to get kidney stones, coupled with food allergies real or incorrect ,makes it difficult to figure out what to eat. i probably needed more time and eventhough i prepared by making out a food diary and a list of questions there are still questions that have come up since my initial consulation. so...
