Barrio Tacos – Midtown Yacht Club (Bend, OR) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I didn’t take a picture of my food because, honestly, I attacked it like a starving pack of wolves descending on a wounded wildebeest. By the time I thought of documenting the meal, it was already a crime scene. The only thing that could’ve enhanced the experience would’ve been eating it under a full moon, howling softly while digesting.
I ordered the beef tacos and was pleasantly surprised by how substantial the portion was—not one of those overpriced miniature taco situations. The flavor was rich, bold, and deeply satisfying, the kind of thing that makes you stop mid-bite just to mutter “oh damn” under your breath. You can tell these people actually care about what they’re serving.
I also got a vegan taco for my wife, but I forgot to ask for no cheese—that was my bad. On the upside, I got to try the mushroom protein taco, and it was pretty solid. Definitely not a consolation prize, and would make a fine option for anyone wanting to go meatless.
The folks at Barrio are doing something right. The truck was clean, the crew was efficient, and even with a full yard at Midtown Yacht Club, the wait was short and the vibe was easy. The food stands out not just because it tastes good—but because it feels thoughtful.
Support this truck. Eat their tacos. Maybe bring a friend so you don’t have to pretend to growl when you claim...
Read moreI ordered the Barrio Bowl, which is advertised as containing brown rice, black beans, guacamole, pico de callo, cotija cheese, tortilla chips, and your choice of protein. He asked "are you okay with the dairy?” I wanted the cheese on it so I said yes. Back at my table I waited for my buzzer to go off but it never did. After 25 minutes I went to check on my food. Turns out it had been ready for quite awhile and they never triggered my buzzer. They retrieved it from the back counter and handed it to me. I was dismayed to see some kind of white goop drizzled on the bowl, that I assumed to be sour cream. Is that what he meant by the dairy question? That is not how you ask a customer "do you want to add sour cream to this bowl that does not otherwise come with sour cream?"
In addition to the sour cream I didn't ask for, the cotija cheese that was advertised as being part of this bowl was nowhere to be seen. In any case the entire thing was so cold that I could barely choke down a few bites. I ended up throwing...
Read moreThis has got to be one of my new favorite Mexican places. It is a food truck not authentic Mexican but very close and easily the best burrito I've had in a long time. I didn't want a wet burrito so I specifically asked if he could just do regular and of course they could. Whatever the chicken is cooked in makes this what it is in my opinion, the queso was amazing as well. Didn't come with guac or sour cream so that's the only downside but you can definitely ask for it on if you want. My girlfriend got the enchiladas with chicken as well and she has always preferred authentic enchiladas but she says this comes in a very close 2nd. Green chile sauce was amazing. This has to be the best Mexican food cart I've ever tried and I would highly recommend it to anybody who is having a tough time deciding what to get. They were super fast and had the food out in about 5-10 minutes and also have been rated the highest cleanliness by health inspectors which is a plus....
