Half Price Books — Attraction in Bethel Park

Hands down my favorite used bookstore in the area. I've been coming here since I learned how to read and how much I LOVE reading. I always stop here first before purchasing books new. They always have great deals on new books that have been gently used, and 99% of the time I walk out with something I love. They're always getting new books so you're bound to find something that fits your vibe.

The store very rarely turns away books from those who are willing to sell. I personally haven't had something to give to them that they haven't taken from me. They take inventory based on its popularity when it was sold, condition, author, and whether the book has any special features or if it is signed.

Also make sure to look at their $0.49 bookmarks - I've built up a collection of their pretty ribbon ones on the kiosk and they're awesome! I love them because I don't always love to spend a fortune on bookmarks.

I tend to review based on the experience as a customer, not necessarily the products. I will use my last visit as an example. I was there late on a Saturday and was one of probably two customers in the store. As I walked in, there were four employees near the entrance. Not one of them acknowledged me as I walked in. By no means would I expect anything big, but even a "hello" or "good evening" would have been something given there wasn't much else going on. I spent about 15 minutes browsing and a few employees walked past. Then on my way out, just to try a theory - I made eye contact to see if I would get any kind of "thanks for stopping by". But got nothing.

To wrap this up, Half Price Books is not a bad store. Prices seem good. But in a day and age when there are a lot of choices, the experience for a customer should matter. If you are looking for that experience here, you...

Love this place! Such a unique selection of notebooks and cards. The prices on books is super and also the selection. The vibe of this bookstore is great and everyone is really nice and helpful, specifically today! I have been looking for books by a specific artist and the sales girl/cashier helped me tremendously and found what I was looking for, for a great price at another half price store. She was knowledgeable & was also interested in what I was looking for and took the time to help me! (You don’t get that everywhere) I wish I had her name so I could recognize her helpfulness.
