We went to the Gather restaurant for their brunch to celebrate my sister's birthday. There were 12 of us in the group. Most of us had the buffet but a few were going to order off the menu and didn't even get to place their orders until the rest of us had already gotten our meal from the buffet. While the buffet was adequate, there was an omelette station which was the main draw for the majority of us. HOWEVER, the man who was in charge of making the omelettes did not have a clue how to do them. As I waited for my turn, I watched him totally burn the two omelettes before mine. When I asked if he could please not brown the eggs so much, he ignored me. Deciding not to risk it, I went back to the scrambled eggs and did not have the omelette. Two others in our party opted to try them and, as I had seen, had totally dark brown eggs on both sides and they were basically inedible. In one person's comment, the were "like rubber". Seeing that the omelette station is a major -- if the the most important -- part of a brunch, I would hope they could find a better chef to make these. Service was just so-so ... we had to ask for refills on the beverages more than once and had to track someone down to pay when we were ready to leave. While the atmosphere is great, the food and service is just mediocre. I don't think we would choose this restaurant in the future, especially for...
Read moreDont even attempt to eat here.... I ordered the specialty Black Rum Bacon Jack Burger (labeled must try). I ordered the burger medium.
It came out well done with 1/8th inch of char . There was no bacon. There was no specialty sauce. For the icing on the cake, it came with large amounts of grill cooties on the bun and plate.
You know those little burned crispy black things you scape off the grill.
In 20 years of staying in hotels, this was the first time I have walked back down to the restaurant with room service.
I understand mistakes happen but the willingness to still serve something that is beyond edible is beyond me.
I mean, how tough is it to cook a hamburger.
I also ordered Mac and cheese which was ok (probably not prepared by this cook) and dinner salad...
Read moreSelf serve everything, was told to get coffee from the lobby and then had to notify the server it was empty. Artificially colored eggs were poured from a carton instead of being cooked to order from real eggs. Cold mass produced "French toast" from some package was disgusting and only heated by a candle under the large pan so 90% cold. Sausage and bacon were both good and deserved better other everything. The breakfast was definitely not worth the $18 price tag other than in someone's wild imagination. Skip eating at this Crown Plaza hotel and find any other local restaurant. Not worth the effort of...
