I went to get matching tattoos with a girl friend. The environment was friendly but I was surprisingly shocked with the results of my tattoo and am so disappointed. We wanted to get “matching” strawberries that were already done by a particular artist at the shop. We both agreed to keep them the same and just have the outline of the strawberry slightly darker. I walked in and told the artist this since my friend was shy, I told her the change but other than that to keep them the same. She said yes no problem. My friend goes first and her tattoo had the darker change and looked how I expected mine would. It’s my turn and I think everything is understood. Once it was done I realized mine was significantly darker and the inside was not the same style at all. I was confused because I never said to change the inside or anything else with the design but still thought it was ok and just happy my friend and I were doing something fun so I didn’t know how to react. When we got home we realized how different my tattoo was from hers and the original, also how much it was bleeding compared to others I’ve gotten so I became concerned. I messaged the artist who explained how to treat it, halfheartedly apologized for the confusion after telling me she gave what was “asked” and let me know it’ll lighten when it heals (it did not). Unfortunately the next day my tattoo swelled very bad and formed noticeably deep cuts I’ve never had with any of my other tattoos. I figured my skin was rejecting the ink but after researching and getting a second opinion from another tattoo artist I learned the skin had been overworked making the healing process very painful. I am so disappointed especially seeing how good their other work is and how expensive a tattoo like this was, just for it to scar and not look how I hoped. It’s going to be a very long time before I can afford to get this hopefully fixed or covered up. The ironic part is that all the problem areas are the dark areas that weren’t wanted or asked for. I know I lost out on a good tattoo and a lump some of money but I want to advise this place to PLEASE be more mindful and clear with your clients before making decisions and changing a design. I was concerned when i wasn’t asked for clarification, but assumed with their experience they knew what to do. I’m not the type to hover over an experienced artist to make sure they are doing things correctly especially since they were told repeatedly what was wanted. I had faith it would turn out good so didn’t worry or mind about the price at all. But like other things, just because it costs more doesn’t make it better. I understand I did say make the outline of the strawberry darker but overall I expected it to look like my friends and not just do whatever. The inside should have never been adjusted and dark red border/shading added onto the inside heart was never asked for and ruined the entire design of the tattoo. Which from an artist’s perspective should be apparent. This design is not dainty or realistic in the slightest and compared to my friends, looks like it was done by a different artist. My only guess is they made a mistake and tried to cover it or was overworking themselves making it difficult to recreate the same design a second time. Whatever the case, it was the only thing I wanted on my arm and now I’ll have to figure something else out. With how dark the whole thing is and how its healing it looks more like a heart shaped blister and not a strawberry which I am most heartbroken about especially in such a visible area. :’( Please pay closer attention to what your clients ask for in the future, ease up on overworking, take breaks, and be more transparent with clients about changing a design especially with something that they have to look at everyday for the rest of their lives. From an artists perspective and as a tattoo lover this has became my least favorite tattoo in the most visible spot. As you have hoped, I will not be coming back or recommending this place to anyone. I hope this a learning experience...
