The Den — Restaurant in Biloxi

I e been to the Den several times this is why I’m giving them a two star review. It seems to get progressively worse each visit. They seat you quickly but then you will wait for your drinks if you get them at all before the server tries to rush you into ordering. Then be prepared by bringing a book, a phone, a jigsaw puzzle, anything to help fill the time between the time you ordering your food and actually receiving your food. Then you will either get your food and have to wait even longer in order to get something the server should have proactively brought to your table that is needed for you to eat your meal. For an example, when eating toast, most would eat butter and jelly with the toast. And give up on a refill, so drink slowly. Today they didn’t even get our order correct. Unfortunately the buffet was full downstairs and we decided to try the Den. Probably the biggest mistake I made was trying the new restaurant instead of going with the buffet downstairs. I tried their new item which was called pan seared scallops with peach marmalade which turned out to be something of a fiasco. It was not a peach marmalade but moroso of a burnt brown sugar glaze and then burnt scallops. My wife decided to get sides and was brought sides with tons of salt and spoiled sour cream. Our waiter was nice and the atmosphere is beautiful with the view of Gulf of Mexico. My wife got sick we believe it was a sour cream and I did not enjoy my meal at all because it was totally burnt. This place is a definite hidden gem...my boyfriend says it’s never crowded but it was when we went late one sat night... however service was decent (those waitresses were working their butts off!)...we had fried mushrooms and crab cakes for apps which were fresh and delicious (not a ton of breading & lots of actual crab meat)...the shrimp and crawfish pasta was generous and tasty too as was my chicken portobello sandwich (which was still great when i ate the other half 2 days later for lunch!)...not sure what the bad reviews are about as this was my only experience with...
