DJD Theater — Attraction in Birmingham

My wife and I attended a production of the Broadway musical version if The Beauty and the Beast. We had a fantastic time. The orchestra was wonderful, the ushers were very nice and accommodating (even when I spilled my drink), and the musical was phenomenal. Even the souvenir cups were great (even that they are the only way you're allowed to drink because they have lids). Of course, you get to bring them back the next time you visit. If I had any complaints, its that the seating arrangements are rather tight. This is a small concern as I am rather large man so this won't be everyone's issue. However, you do have to practically get up everytime someone "down the line" wants to get up for whatever reason. Also, it would be nice if the seats had cup holders. I know, this isn't a movie theater but the sell popcorn and M&M's for goodness sake. You have no where to put your fancy new cup! Other these small little things, we had a great time. Love this venue! Very nice facility. Smaller then expected, but I found that to be a positive. Have never been into theatre but had to do a paper on a live play for school. Saw Mamma Mia! and it was AMAZING! The actors were wonderful, they did a stellar job singing and their choreography was perfect! This is no low-budget highschool production. We attended The Moth Grand Slam event on 9/8. Our first visit and we loved it. The acoustics were excellent and seats comfortable. A small venue so every seat was a god seat. The staff was welcoming and helpful. Parking was relatively easy as we arrived early. The only improvement I could suggest would have been to have the bar staffed with one more person…….but not a concern that would...
