Great Value. We are traveling in November over Thanksgiving so it is not a great time because of the weather and there are very few people around. Hotel has a nice breakfast..make your own waffles, eggs, sausage and all the basics everyday. Great work out room with towels and water. Pool area is nice. There is a zero entry if you want to be able to walk right in. The fountain 🖋️ n the water is nice. My teens went in for a few minutes but it is too cold at this time of year. Dog friendly! (Plus there is a dog park about a mile away). They even have bones at the front desk. We were upgraded to a suite because we are diamond . The room was huge ! However only a sink, mini fridge (no freezer) and a very hard to use microwave. It was clean overall. We had a rollaway bed in our room and still tons of space. In terms of the gulf view, I don't think it is worth paying extra for, since you can only see a sliver thru the actual condos on the water. Good Destin location. Easy to walk to the beach access. We were debating between this Hilton and the Tru..this one is better if your main tail is to have easy walking access to the beach. Same area as the Home 2suites. We stayed for 5 nights over Thanksgiving week. Unrelated to the actual hotel...close to The Track (outdoor putt putt and go carts ..good location...

Use Caution when visiting this park. Beautiful park, but you can't feel safe. Homeless hangout. Before we crossed the street to check out the park we saw some homeless hanging out at the corner of the park. We decided to walk past them and continue to check out the park, but very quickly we were being followed by two of them and approached by one of them offering to give us a tour. We accepted and he was very nice. He was hard to understand at times but gave us information we probably wouldn't have known otherwise. But he did explain we were in the "hood hood" and he didn't know those other people over there or what they would do. He said if we ever go back, definitely don't come down there after dark. Even though the guy was nice, we were still cautious of him. Of course, being from Texas, we were carrying just incase they tried to do something bad. Which carrying made us feel more safe.We gave the guy $40 and he went on his way. Right when we got back in our truck, a guy came out of nowhere in a ski mask walking past our vehicle...definitely some shady characters down there. Very sad people can't go learn about history without being uncomfortable. The park deserves 5 stars...we went in the fall and the trees were beautiful. But the people around it is why I can only give this...

This is a wonderful and informative park to visit across from the civil right's museum and 16th street Baptist church where 4 little girls were killed in basement bombing and the other corner, author shores law firm whose family I spent many years visiting and did my divorce which is not one of my happiest days I felt like I'd lost a child for a finalized minute or two October 27, 2005. Sobering and I rarely drink anything alcoholic not even on wedding day the one day I did Not buy a new outfit at Monday between classes at Miles College. Left Biochemistry Dr. Subramanian class and returned a newlywed bride age 32 thought I was grown with my mother in attendance probably saying at last! I thought I heard GOD'S APPROVAL. Must have been the pilot light on the stove cooking all that meat his left side of refrigerator the first 2 years then it stopped working empty. That was the first major kitchen appliance I had ever purchased from the one his mother gave him buying herself a new one. She came to visit asking where's "Her" refrigerator. In my best non orajel voice I could muster to the sweet lady...

♿️This is a historic park in the middle of the Civil Rights District. It is all ♿️ accessible as everything is paved and the crosswalks have ramps. Parked in front of the Civil Rights Building and started walking towards the park, passing the Sixteenth Street Church along the way. It's not a large park, but every piece tells something about the history of Civil Rights and what people went through during this time. There is a tour available through Red Clay Tours and they showed up while I was there. I would recommend the tour as well as just going on your own. I believe I caught part of something their tour does and it was riveting. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone. The fountain does not work and that's really a shame bc it would be beautiful in action. There are office chairs just sitting in the strangest place on a stage area. There are benches and garbage cans available. I would recommend the park as well as walking the entirety of the Civil Rights District if you haven't all ready. They have restored so much, but this park is your starting point.

The Freedom Walk teaches/shows you so much about the history of the terrible things that happened in Birmingham and the fight to change the atrocities. I enjoyed the audio tour that we could call in and get further details on each stop. The reason for 4/5 is because of all the men (homeless or otherwise) that hang out there and congregate at one portion of the park or come up and try to give you an unsolicited tour (made it a little uncomfortable to view everything, and at our own pace), there doesn't seem to be any care given to the Reflection Pool and there's no water in it, and lastly because of the graffiti on the Pavilion.

Park is historically interesting, next to AG Gaston's motel that catered to African Americans during g a period when no southern establishments did and held entertainment and activist meetings by the likes of MLK Jr. The reflection pool in the park is empty and the park could use a little TLC as people have ironically and in a hypocritical manner defaced a park dedicated to them by spray painting BLK and other movement rhetoric on the parks' surfaces. The park is currently run by the town but the federal government is soon taking it over to survey and maintain it properly.
