McWane Science Center is a fantastic place for kids and families to spend the day. My daughter absolutely loves it here, and every visit is filled with excitement and discovery. The center offers a wide variety of exhibits that are both fun and educational, making it a great spot for children to learn while playing. There are hands-on activities, interactive displays, and areas that spark curiosity for all ages.
We easily spent the whole day exploring. From the science exhibits to the aquarium section, there’s always something to keep kids engaged. My daughter especially enjoyed the interactive play zones and experiments. The staff was friendly and helpful, making the experience even better.
I did notice a few exhibits that felt a little dated and could use some refreshing, but it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment. The variety of activities and the energy of the place more than made up for it.
Overall, McWane Science Center is a wonderful family-friendly destination. It’s a place where kids can have fun, burn off energy, and learn at the same time. We’ll definitely be going back, and I’d recommend it to any parent looking for an engaging day out with...
Read moreWe went for the first time as a family. We got there at 10am just as it opened. It does fill up quickly. My son enjoyed the itty bitty city they have for smaller kids. There are different pretend play areas for smaller kids there such as grocery store, diner, car repair shop and so on. My husband and I enjoyed looking at the exhibits. We saw dinosaur fossils of Alabama and birds, insects too. It's easy to move a stroller around. Good markings to find elevators. There are family restrooms which we did have to use to change a diaper. There is an IMAX theater which plays several different movies if interested. You can buy tickets for both IMAX and for the science center. You can buy tickets at the counter or buy online. The shop is cute and has some neat kits, books, toys, t shirts and so on. We weren't able to go pet the sharks and rays they have there, my son was exhausted so we definitely have to go back. There were many people in line for the sharks and rays so you may have to stand in line for awhile. There seems to be things to do for most any age. Enjoy! Go learn...
Read moreThe science center was okay. We have traveled the United States and seen many one thing that was definitely missing was a play area for 7-year-olds and above. I understand separating the little kids but the big kids really didn't have a park area or water area to just be free and play. Yes, I understand that there are attractions throughout the whole thing for their age, but as a parent I would have loved to see one specific area for them to have free play. Another issue that I saw was with the rising waters demonstration. Not only was it false information but it was fear mongoling to our children. The woman you specific time at which would happen if we pour this water in. I understand melting ice caps but it's around .013 inches per year. So in 30 years it'll rise about 5- 10 in. When she poured the water in and all the kids saw that the school and the zoo had gone away. She said now imagine in 30 years if the ice keeps melting this is going to happen. That is so false and misleading to our children. Everyone of the kids was scared and it was...
