My wife took some jewelry there and came home with a check. She said from the time she left the parking lot until she got back was 10 minutes, it was that quick. I asked about how much they paid per gram, how many grams were there, and she didn’t know. She was not given a receipt, just a check. She didn’t know what she was doing and Gina O at The Gold Guys took advantage of her. I called them the next day to find out the details of the transaction. Of course, our jewelry has already been shipped off, I expected that response. They did have details about how much each piece weighed and how much they paid. Gina at The Gold Guys paid $26 per pennyweight for 14K gold, that’s about 25% less than other places I called were paying. Gina and the Gold Guys are shady, I wouldn’t advise anyone to do business with them unless you know the value of what you are selling and you’re on top of your game.
My advice, figure out the value of what you are selling before looking for a buyer and talk to multiple buyers. Many websites will show prices, and many buyers will let you know their prices over the phone (not the Gold Guys though based on a review in the Star Tribune). When you do sell something, get a receipt and ensure the receipt matches the details of the transaction. Gina at the Gold Guys didn’t offer my wife a receipt. Overall, a bad...
Read moreWent to sell my 1/2oz british mint coin. Minted 99.99 pure gold. I've had it tested for 99.99 purity. This dealer opened an old book, found a coin that wasn't the 2021 version I had and said it's only 87 pure gold because they put other metals in it to make it exactly 1/2oz I kept telling him it's minted 99.99 pure. In other words he was trying to buy my 24K pure gold for 87% pure gold price. Shady practice if you ask me. I walked out of this store right then. I should have known they were shady when they didn't even want to tell me how they would price the gold over the phone.Avoid this store unless you don't mind being ripped off. It's one thing to state they pay less than spot as they have to make a profit, but to devalue the purity of your gold to get a few extra...
Read moreI just want to share what a wonderful experience i had here with The Gold Guys! They really do pay top dollar for gold and silver. I shopped around because I wanted to make sure I was getting the best price. The competitors weren't even close! They gave me quotes for my old jewelry that I thought was just junk! I had two previous quotes from pawn shops for $545 and $610. The Gold Guys came in at $987.00. Not to mention the staff was very helpful! They explained every step of the procedure to help educate me throughout the process. I appreciate their honest and forthright approach here and I would strongly recommend them to all of my friends....
