A really nice place to go for walks. The park is much larger than others may think. There are some really nice trails towards the back lot that are great for a small hike.
If you play PokĆ©mon Go than youāll get your fill here. Tons of stops and gyms. There are usually tons of raids here due to the amount of gyms.
The playground (from what I remember from when I was a kid) is phenomenal. Itās not every day you see a park with a playground that isnāt made of a bunch of plastic. The playground is huge as well as far as they go I think. I know that when I was a kid I always loved coming to that playground. Thereās also a second smaller playground for much younger kids. This was not here when I was a kid so I have no opinions on it.
The buildings that you can rent here are well built and maintained. I havenāt rented them myself but have been in almost all of them for graduation parties. The pavilions are rentable too and are in good shape as well.
The dog park is nice but requires a yearly registration fee. I believe that is because they donāt want just any person to bring in their dogs as they can be aggressive. This also backfires however due to people with aggressive dogs still being able to pay for the membership. Honestly this is a huge bummer. If you know your dog doesnāt like other dogs or leashes then please donāt ever take them to a dog park where those are typically common. A thorough checkup on dogs and their owners should be put in place so this doesnāt happen. If someone brings an aggressive dog than they should be reported and looked into. Having cameras in the dog park would help get rid of problem dogs should they appear. I know it sucks not being able to take your dog to the park if itās aggressive, but you shouldnāt ever put other dogs or their owners at risk. The dog park is also split into two sections: one for small dogs and one for big dogs. The size of both are great for the relative size of the dog.
All around this is a wonderful Park. The summertime usually sees quite a few people coming and going (especially for PokƩmon Go). There are tons of events that go on here as well that are usually extremely well put together. This park is definitely a great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur family gives the 1 star review not because we feel negatively about the park, rather we truly believe that Boardman is a "Nice Place to Call Home"- and our only intention for this post is to preserve & protect our local park.
We originally reached out this past November (2017) to Ms. Roseanne at Boardman Park and CC'd Mr. Brad Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun forward the information and images to the Executive Director of the Park and two of the Board of Park Commissioners.
As we originally brought to their attention and as reflected in the attached photos, theĀ graffiti references drug & alcohol use.
There are Drug &Ā TobaccoĀ paraphernaliaĀ in plain sight near the fireplace and what appears to be some form of broken glass pipe.
There is even a metal rod extruding from the wall which could easily pierce someone causing serious harm.
The roof is in serious disrepair and the unoccupied structure has electricity.
One tag referencesĀ "2007"- suggesting that many of this graffiti may have been here for over ten years.
There is a downed electrical line and even a dangerous old steel swing set in disrepair.
There is no excuse for this, plain and simple.
The obvious and ignored safety hazards are not the only concern.
This wrecklessy maintained picnic area not only invites unsupervised minors to journey through while walking the park's trails; more so it encourages unmonitored criminal activity.
This is OUR park. What is OUR excuse?
OUR school district is asking for a levy to be passed to "continue the tradition of excellence". Mr. Lazzari was my elementary principle and an amazing person and I hope this makes his attention.
Increasing the budget isn't the sole answer- this is where our kids play and are influenced the few hours they aren't playing Grand Theft Auto Online.
Let's make this right, cleaning up this mess should be common sense!
We took the new photos as of April, 2018.
Truly disheartened and disappointed to see that nothing was done in nearly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI loved this park the little ones had a blast š There is a nice size area for toddlers that is separate from the bigger kids which is nice. I also like that the play areas had gates around them which is very nice when you have a little escape artist lol š The park also provides little ride on bikes/cars for toddlers to play on during their visit, again very nice and not very many parks offer this š This park has pavilions, grills, and tables perfect for parties, get togethers, or just a simple picnic in the park š There are also trails. This park is definitely worth the visit and really seems to have something for everyone šā¤ļø On our last trip here when it started getting dark we seen raccoons. The kids loved it. I don't know who was cuter on this visit the boys or the little raccoons š„°š
Our last visit was for a school picnic āŗļø I was so very happy the picnic took place at one of our favorite parks ever! The pavlovian was perfect size for all the students, teachers, and family members š I actually did not know this park is this BIG šš„°ā¤ļø
Visiting again the trees were so many different colors and beautiful š There were piles of leaves the little ones jumped in and had so much fun š„°
Again a week later there were a lot of fall activities. There were hay rides, costumes, contests, pumpkin carving and candy give away. What a beautiful family fun day.
