This review is not to trash the young man's ability to build computers but to make anyone who is interested in hiring this company to NOT DO IT! Their lack of professionalism and communications skills are a slap to the face to any other local businesses. First issue with this company was trying to get them to schedule an appointment. It took over a week from the first time of contact with them for the person who is incharged of scheduling appointments to do their job. I spoke to the person on the phone and explained to him in detail what I needed. He advised me to wait until later that day and he will call me back. Waited for 3 days and never heard back from them. On the 4th day I called back.... and was able to successfully schedule my appointment with the person who never called me back. The second issue with this company is that the rep who came to my home was still a kid in high school with no certifications (at this point I should have asked for my money back since they make you pay upfront before they send out a "technician") The third issue started after an hour and a half of work being put on the machine. The computer no longer turned on.... the kid then admitted that the components I had to build the pc were the newest technology. Meaning he did not know how to set it up properly (I came to find this out when it was too late) at this point the young technician had fried the mother board. The kid attempted to fix the issue for 30 more minutes, then gave up and stated there was nothing else he could do. At this point our 4th issue started. The kid called his boss and instead of them apologizing and accepting responsibility for destroying my $300 motherboard, the owner demanded me to pay another $95 on top of the original quoted price of $95 for having the desktop built. I asked to speak with the owner and I was declined my request. I asked for an email address to where I could express my concern with the service and I was also declined this piece of information. At this point I declined to pay that additional $95 and told the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter calling in ahead of time and describing the fix I needed done (updating bios on a motherboard) I re-confirmed the quoted price ($60) 3 separate times, even having the worker confirm with the tech, before agreeing to bring my computer in. Once I was in, the price was now $100 because its a custom build (which was explained on the phone) and they would have to hold onto the computer over the weekend. Monday comes, and I receive a call explaining "We double checked everything on the computer and its not posting, and the bios needs to be updated but we are unable to do that." (exactly what I said needed to be done in the first place, it was even on the original invoice) I was then offered motherboards and processors to buy off them, to which I declined. When I went to pick up my computer, they insisted on still charging me $100 for "diagnostic", to which they eventually dropped to a still ridiculous $75.
This place is kind of like that sketchy car shop that you bring your car in for new brakes, and they "diagnose" other problems on the car you didn't ask them to look at, then they return your car with still broken brakes and a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in there yesterday with a hard drive that was malfunctioning. I was asking if they could plug it in and test if it was completely dead, or if it was just the port, which was my suspicion. Instead of helping me, the gentleman with the Russian accent tried to sell me a hard drive inclosure. I told him I really wanted to first see if my diagnosis was correct. He said he wouldn't do that without charging me. Now, common sense would dictate that if you want my future business, you work with me and not try to sell me something that I don't need. Had he plugged it in to test, it would have taken less than 1 minute. Obviously if my diagnosis was correct, of course I would buy the part(s) needed there. Instead, due to his unwillingness to help, they lost a customer for good which is a shame. Craig UPDATE, 8/13/2010: I was correct in my diagnosis. Once I determined that, I purchased a HD Enclosure from Comp USA. Had these guys been just the slightest bit accommodating I would have purchased it from them, and brought my future business there....
