Huguenot Park — Attraction in Bon Air

I recently visited the updated playground with high hopes, but unfortunately, I left feeling quite disappointed. While the idea of new equipment is exciting, the execution seems to have fallen short in several key areas. My most significant concern is the apparent lack of durability. Shockingly, multiple pieces of equipment already appear to be falling apart. This raises serious questions about the quality of the materials used and the safety of the play area for children. Furthermore, I was dismayed to see that the updates have negatively impacted accessibility. The slides, which were previously accessible via ramps, now only have stairs and climbing structures. This change effectively excludes children with mobility challenges, making the playground less inclusive than it was before. This is a significant step backward in providing a space for all children to enjoy. Adding to these issues, the turf installed on the hill is already showing signs of wear and tear. Large sections are lifting and peeling away, creating obvious and dangerous tripping hazards for children running and playing. Overall, the recent updates to the playground are a major letdown. Instead of an improved and safer space, we are left with poorly constructed equipment, reduced accessibility, and new safety hazards. Awesome playground! Definitely geared to younger kids. My almost three year old could do most things on his own, which I feel like you can never find!!! One issue is people were bringing there dogs in and there was no sign that said no dogs. I just don’t think this is a great idea in an inclosed space with kids running around. Second which was out of the parks control, the most annoying ice cream truck parked right in front of the playground playing music the entire time, kids were screaming and crying cause their parents wouldn’t let them get ice cream. This is a great playground with a good variety of play areas. There is a sand pit, lots of swings, a hillside with a slide at the top and several different playscapes. There are even swings for the adults. Plenty of shade. My boys also brought along a basketball and played on the courts for awhile. I noticed there are bathrooms at the park but we did not visit them so I can't attest to their cleanliness. We visited around 11am on a Thursday morning and the playground was packed.
