IHOP — Restaurant in Virginia

We stopped by this location because it was new. Our expectations were minimal to start just wanting to grab a quick bite to eat. We were promptly seated by a host lacking in basic conversation skills. A simple hello goes a long way. After being seated we waited quite a bit to be greeted by what appears to be a BOH team member trying to help out. The conversation that followed was one of the most awkward of my life resulting with a drink order being taken and delivered but at the expense of my husband who was apparently judged for his drink choice of diet coke. We were notified by our server that he would be by shortly...but that never happened. There was one large party that seemed to be paying out but that rendered the remaining team members incapable of serving any other patrons. We finally decided to leave after no additional attempts were made to get our order. After waiting a few minutes to pay for our drinks we were finally acknowledged at the front by the manager on duty. He offered a half hearted apology but made no attempts for any sort of guest recovery besides taking care of our beverages. I know staffing is an issue these days but it seems that the restaurant and their team appear to have completely given up on the most basic level of customer satisfaction. I ordered sirloin steak tips, served with caramelized onions and mushrooms. It was so horrible that it was not edible. I enjoy caramelized onions, but I don't need to add sugar to them. There is enough natural sugar to caramelize onions nicely without adding some. My expectation was that I would get yummy, savory steak bites with some mushrooms and onions. What I got was sweet steak with no hint of savory. Even the broccoli that was served on the side was sweet. It was so disgusting and such a disappointment. Please reconsider your "marinade" recipe. You have lost a customer in me. Or maybe at least have a better description on the menu like, " Sweet marinated steak tips served with sweet caramelized onions and also sweet sauteed mushrooms. If you're looking for a nice savory steak dish, this is not for you". Especially for the price I paid for my dinner to be delivered, it was so frustrating. This is not a reflection on the restaurant employees as I understand it. They follow pre measured, pre portioned, simple specific instructions. But there was no indication that my steak would be all sugary in the description....

We went to this IHOP Saturday morning @1130 for breakfast. Just my fiancé and I. We were seated quickly because there was no wait at the time and the restaurant was not full. We were at our table 5-6 min and no one approached to give us water or say they would be with us shortly or anything. Servers kept walking by us while one was complaining stating that she did not care whose table it was, she wasn’t going to get it. The manager was clearing tables and did not come to our table to say anything after noticing that we had not been approached since she sat us. We got up and left without any notice. My fiancé left his keys, so we went back and hour and a half later to get them and our table was still the exact way we left it! Menus open and silverware where I placed it to make room for a water, that I never received…smh. They had our keys, but it was a different staff working at this time. Will not be visiting this location again! There is no excuse to be ignored when you go to an establishment ready to spend your own money. I expect more from IHOP. Never had such a terrible experience at one of...
