This is the first time I’ve gone to the Sonic and received such poor service. I placed a mobile order. After realizing that the additional items I requested, which was bacon and jalapeños, were not on the burger. I returned to the drive-through window. I deliberately pulled a piece of the bread off the sandwich because I did not want them to present me with the same sandwich after it was re-handled by the staff. Upon returning to the window, I was told that they could not remake the burger or refund me. I had never heard of such a policy at Sonic. I presented my receipt and advised them that I paid for the additional items and they were left off the sandwich. The person at the drive-through window again refused to remake my sandwich at which time I asked for the manager. The manager came to the window And reiterated that the sandwich could not be remade and that I could not be refunded. I advised her that that was unacceptable. At which time she snatched the receipt from my hand and said she would remake the burger and asked me to pull over to a stall. I sat at the window waiting for her to come back to ask her why she felt the need to snatch the receipt from me. After She returned to the window because I had not moved, and there was a line behind me I asked her why she snatched the receipt and she shoved the receipt back at me and told me to call corporate to get me a refund because she was refusing to serve me at that point. I proceeded to sit at the drive-through Continually Blocking the additional customers until I got someone on from the telephone number on the line to guarantee me a refund which took an additional 10 minutes. This is the worst service I’ve ever received at this restaurant and I have faithfully patronized it for over six years now. Needless to say, I will not be returning. I understand they are overworked. I understand that they may even be underpaid, but at no time was I rude or did I present myself as a problem or mistreat the staff. She was rude for no reason and for her to be the manager was abhorrent! That burger that I ordered was nine dollars. And that’s nine dollars of my hard...

Updated review 6-4-2020 No longer are unhygienic unprofessional children working here. Not on the night I passed through anyway.
I was happy to see women in their thirties and forties mostly staffing this restaurant. I saw gloves where needed and hygiene practices being upheld, I saw professionalism and care.
I love Sonic and have not been here after my initial horrible experiences. Giving them multiple tries before I quit them.
I'll be a frequent customer from here on, as long as they are staffing this establishment as well as they are now
Original review: Unprofessional, unhygienic juveniles continuously staff this ridiculously unsanitary fast food restaurant. For four years I have made over six complaints about staff not wearing gloves when preparing food. They touch cheese, cherries that go on milkshakes, burger buns and everything with bare hands.
After speaking with the manager several times and then speaking with franchise owners I was assured that glove wearing was their policy and that the double hand-washing the manager of the location told me was their policy, was not the policy and was in no way hygienic or safe.
Once again I was told they would assure that staff wore gloves, just like they've assured me before.
I wouldn't eat one french fry from this place.
I wonder how many people they've gotten sick over the years from the lackadaisical children monitored by unprofessional slack managers working in the kitchen. I'll be calling Chesterfield County Health...
Read moreIn all fairness, if I could I would give them 2.5 stars, but firmly feel like 3 is too many. Sonic seems to spend an inordinate amount of money on advertising in markets where they have zero presence, including my home city, where the closest store is a 40 minute drive away. So when we were traveling to Richmond, and in need of a quick dinner, I decided to give it a try.
Because I was traveling with my significant other and a dog, I dropped them off at the hotel and hit the Sonic drive through just short of two miles away and ordered a laundry list of food, drinks, and Sonic's equivalent of DQ's Blizzard (ice cream with a topping mixed in). The food was just OK for fast food - not inedible, but nothing I would choose if I had options. Their version of the blizzard had all the "mix-in" topping sitting on top of a cup full of ice cream: nothing was actually mixed. I would not recommend anything from Sonic, honestly.
The service also sucked the drive through worker assured me that they had given me everything on the list (I asked because it seemed I was missing something), but when I got back to the hotel and unpacked it turns out they left two things out. After driving back to Sonic, the lights were off, but I was able to knock on the door, explain that I was missing items I had been charged for, and he said he remembered and handed me what I thought were my missing items.
