Anything beef is delish My friend and her family invited me to join them at Mi Pueblito which benefited us mutually because it is a neighborhood restaurant that was in close distance from both of our apartments. Not the type to dine alone, I relished the opportunity to dine in. Having a garden plot next door, the smell of their carne asada would make my mouth water. Sadly, their price for their food is higher than I thought for a working class neighborhood restaurant and being a one off dining out with friends which I rarely do I opted for the ribs which don't look like ribs because they aren't cut up like American barbecue style so I kind of got the steak feel without the price. I wish you could have a choice of sides. Their "tortillas" were more like bland papusas.
The pros: They do good beef dishes and quesadillas. The cons: Long wait time and the venue is tiny and really little space for waiting for a table. It is a shame that with the unused space next to the garden they couldn't build some kind of atrached heated wait area with a bench for cold weather days. I'm claustrophobic and the entrance is so packed that I would rather go home and have my friend txt me to let me know the table is ready. Secondly, all the non-alcoholic drinks are expensive. Third, as member of the garden next door, the owners fail to curb patrons from trashing our garden. Also curb their staff from using the community garden I belong to for "extracurricular" activities. I found a waiter's apron in the garden. The previous owners were great about the trash in the garden not the...
Read moreA true hidden gem in Boston's Central Square/Eagle Hill neighborhood, mentioned to me by a good friend. You may have driven by and not noticed this quaint and casual spot serving up some amazing Mexican and Central American fare. Much can be desired for the establishment's facade, but once you step in, you'll be nicely surprised to find colorful booths, tables, and chairs. The art on the walls is lively and the colors kept neutral. There is a small bar area with no seating, but the Margaritas are well balanced and delicious. I ordered the adobado(pork) tacos(ala carte) and my tablemate ordered the cheese with pork(Revueltas) pupusas and cheese with loroco(a flower bud) pupusas. The pork in my tacos was tender, juicy and well seasoned. Served traditionally on corn tortillas with cilantro, onion, and avocado(additional charge). The pupusas are the best I've had in the area. Handmade to order and just the right ratio of filling to masa. Cooked to perfection, charred spots with an overall golden color. The cortido(pickled cabbage slaw) had the perfect balance of salt and vinegar. Our server was friendly, prompt and attentive. The food and service here are definitely the stars of attraction for this family establishment. Absolutely a spot worth to dine at, so make your way to this...
Read moreThis place has a home made food and waitress are friendly but ... there is a big but. The owner charges you a fee if you pay with credit card and a 20% of your bill once you reach certain amount from ordering food or drinks, the problem is, they don't let you know and when you're about to sign, if you are not careful, you might ended up leaving a double tip on your card. We went to have dinner, a party of 4 and we didn't expect to be changed the 20% of our bill, do you? Well we were, plus a fee because we paid with CC. This is the only place that I know does it and I don't think is right, I think is a very a cheap way to treat costumers, so next time you visit this place, check...
