I absolutely love this workout. The hour goes by so fast. The trainers are motivating and encouraging the equipment is all clean and up to date. The class is challenging but they are great about modifications (power-walk, bike or eliptical instead of running on the treadmill) so if you have wonky knees, you'll be ok.
I'd like to address the review from Ryan that mentions being turned away because they were late for their first class by 15 minutes. I remember you. I was there that morning and you are making some pretty big assumptions about OTF knowing absolutely nothing about it.
The class was pretty big that day and they were one person short at the desk. There was only one person there to get everyone's monitors online and check everyone in. Also, you were not the only new people there that morning. It takes a while to set all that up, especially for newbies. The "tour" you speak of is not a tour at all but an orientation which you ABSOLUTELY need because I've been doing this for months now and I still get a little mixed up with the intervals. It would be very irresponsible of the trainers if they didn't take you into the training room before class to explain how everything works. If you went in there knowing nothing it would inhibit the class for everyone. The trainer would be trying to get you up to speed during class and the rest of the class would suffer for it.
Also, I heard the entire conversation and there was no mention of traffic and it seemed like you didn't even bother to call to let them know you'd be 15 minutes late. I am sure that if you had extended them that courtesy they would have tried to accommodate.
As far as the "sales pitch" I have never been involved in a "pitch" that was so low pressure. They give you a laminated price sheet with tons of options and, while it's not cheap, there is something for nearly every budget. No one hounded us. They said "let us know if you have any questions" and left us to decide. We left without buying a package so we could discuss and didn't get one single stink-eye.
I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with the staff there. They are all very focused on member experience.
This all being said you should know going into this that it is on the expensive side. There are no big locker rooms and no towel service. Two private showers and two unisex bathroom stalls. Both are very nice and clean, but if everyone needed to shower (which has never happened while I was there, the showers are not used much from what I have seen) they'd be in a little trouble. They have a filtered water bottle filler and drinking fountain. Also, it's a corporate situation which has it's pros and cons. None of these things have given me any reason to NOT give this place 5 stars.
The first class is free. There is no reason not to at least try it. When you sign up online or over the phone it is very clear that you need to be there 30 minutes...
Read moreI loved OT for the 2 months I was a member. All the instructors were great and made effort to help new members understand the workout. OT helped increase my endurance. Previously, I was unable to run 1 mile without stopping. Now, I can run 2 miles without stopping and it isn't even hard. I think OT made me stronger and it made me love workout classes.
However, there are a few things I think could be improved. A big reason I did not renew my membership was because the classes would fill up so quickly and fill where I couldn't even join a waitlist. For the amount of new members i'm sure were continuing to sign up, mixed with Covid capacity restrictions.. the classes would fill immediately. This is understandable.
What is not understandable is that unused classes cannot rollover to the next month. If I am unable to attend a class due to your studio reaching capacity, it is wrong for me to be charged/lose the pre-paid credit for that class without the option to use...
Read moreI am hooked!!! As someone who considers themselves to be healthy and fit, I can always use a push to do a little more than I think I can. Orange Theory is just what I need to stay motivated & encouraged!
The structure of the workout gets you in and out within an hour and you've done your full body workout as well as cardio in one hour. Th fact that you are wearing a heart monitor let's you customize your own work out for your own fitness level. There's no intimidation, just motivation.
The instructors are well versed in form and committed to you getting he most out of your work or safely. The studio is clean and well stocked with amenities.
Prices are comparable to other boutique gyms and their app makes it convenient to book classes. Book early as they do fill up- that would be my only "complaint".
Love Orange Theory, especially Orange...
