I recently visited this store roughly 2 weeks ago. At first glance as I was just arriving at the store called Replay'd I realized if you blink your eyes you'll probably miss the store. It was located right at the corner of Brighton Ave. and Cambridge St. The first issue for me upon arriving was trying to find a parking spot. It didn't help either that it was a light but consistent wintery mix of snow and rain that was making the area not too inviting in trying to find a place to park. Eventually I found a spot to park and of course it was pretty tight for my car to fit in. Anyway I grabbed my items to bring in to the store and locked up my vehicle then off I went to the store. Upon arriving and going into the store I was pretty impressed with the layout of the store. This store was advertised as a retro/. I myself was selling a brand new Nintendo Wii console with a few new games that were still packaged and never opened up or used. They were a store that bought and sold various types of video game consoles and games. They also I believed also sold new and newer game consoles and games. But in all honesty I really didn't know the depth at which the store exactly did in their business in the buying and selling of the other various game systems or consoles. But my overall experience was that the store looked good with the layout of the place and the knowledge of the staff. As the lady was going over the items of which I brought with me to the store to get appraised I was also asking different questions about the item being appraised. In the end of being given a fair price of which I accepted. I believe I was given a better offer if I chose to continue shopping using the offer that they gave me. I think it was 10% more than what they originally offered me if I continued to use that by buying items in the store. Anyway I accepted the offer and chose not to buy anything. I really didn't have much time to really go over the entire store and focus on a lot of what they had there. But judging by what I experienced while I was there and also by the interaction with the staff I was impressed with the store overall. I will definitely go back and really check out the overall reasons why and what the store has to offer and what customers could expect. With that being said I'll hopefully be able to follow this review up with a better and more...
Read moreCame here to get a PS3 disc drive fixed, its a cool looking shop and the games are reasonably priced so i bought a PS4 game and left my PS3 there to get repaired. They called me back a day later saying the disc drive is fine, there was an issue with the board and they couldnt fix it. I totally understand not everything can be fixed on these older consoles, so i purchased another PS3 from them and took my old one back.
When i went home to take apart the old system to get the disc that was jammed in the drive ( Black Ops 1), i noticed there was no longer a disc in the drive. I called the shop back because i figured they probably left it around somewhere while testing the drive. The lady working there checked and couldnt find it, i was basically told "tough luck". Now for me its a cheap game and i wont lose any sleep over it, but the fact that they literally misplaced or lost my game and dont even think to do anything about it is terrible customer service from a small business. If there was even a .0001% chance i misplaced the game i wouldnt care, but the system was brought with the game inside and taken back with no game inside, theres no other possibility. Now i have to go out of the way to purchase a game i already owned.
Terrible first experience and...
Read moreThis store has been nothing but awesome every time I've visited. I usually buy a couple games and I'll definitely keep coming back. Prices are very fair, right in line with what you'll find on eBay. A few things to be aware of:
Selection is fantastic, with games on every console from Atari up through PS4. They have a 10% discount for students! Just show your id. A good portion of their games (the whole rack right in front of the front desk) are $3 each. When you buy the $3 games, they're buy-3-get-one-free - so you get 4 games for a total of $9 (or $8.10 with the student discount!). Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They know games and can make recommendations. I've never had a problem asking them questions and they always seem to be willing to help patrons out. When people have been there who aren't super familiar with games and consoles, I've always seen the staff be extremely patient and willing to talk people through stuff.
Overall, if you can make a trip to this place, do it. There aren't many used game shops in the Boston area (I'm only aware of this one, and Sudden Impact way out in Winthrop), but this one is great and I hope it continues to run strong. Can't comment on their repair services, but...
