Bazaar on Cambridge — Local services in Boston

Great store! You could spend hours looking at all the interesting stuff here! Parking notes: There is a larger parking lot in the back, which seems to be the "main" entrance although you can also enter from the front on Cambridge St. The back lot is connected to CVS's lot so you could enter there from Brighton, or go down the alley from Cambridge St. There are a couple of small spaces (literally 2-3) in front on Cambridge, and very limited (but free) street parking in that area. As for the store itself: A variety of foods, primarily Russian, but some from other Eastern European/Baltic/Mediterranean cultures including Greek, Turkish, Jewish/Israeli, etc. The bakery section is a standout, with many interesting breads and delicious looking cakes/pastries. There are refrigerated and frozen sections, fresh produce, meats and cheeses, and a deli counter. And even a small alcohol section. It's a must-visit, whether you're looking for the tastes of home or an international...

I frickin love Bazaar. In addition to having all the standard ingredients you need for 90% of your grocery shopping, they have great fermented foods--inckuding kimchi as well as more traditional Eastern European pickles--a pretty good liquor selection and a amazing bakery. Plus great tea selection and sweets. The produce selection is quite good too with some harder to find fruits.

Of course, they also have a fantastic selection of Eastern groceries, which means great cured meats and a fantastic dairy section. Make sure to grab some farmer's cheese.

One thing to be aware of: this is Russian customer service, known of it's lack of taking BS and sucking up. Probably suits most New England natives but don't expect a "customer is always...

The staff are very friendly and are very polite and patient with my ten words of crummy Russian. At the deli you can see everything and taste most of the items, so it is easy to figure out what you want with no surprises. Winter cherries are a real find. Trader Joe’s does not carry those. The fresh loaves of bread without any additives or preservatives are another find. They will slice them for you on the spot.
