Not going to edit my previous review when I got my gear from them. It can be seen below. That said every piece of gear i bought from them failed in one way or another. I bought multiple stella stratta's for myself and friends. Every unit failed in one way or another. One when full ac and cooked a pair of speakers attached to it. My stratta's screen died quickly. My BHK 250 amp arrived with a horrible amount of floor noise that made it unusable. Total shame... I spent well over $10k on gear that is essentially useless...
Only positive I can take from it is I decided to stop messing around with mid teir gear and bought Macintosh gear and its been flawless.
If you are looking to buy end game gear (aka the last purchase you will ever need to make till you pass...) buy Macintosh imho.
I have a 108lb ps audio amp stuck in my 3rd floor listening room that I cant move myself that was delivered broken.. sooooo disappointed. One last thing. Even though my stratta's broke (screens died on both, one died and went full ac to the speakers) the stratta's when they worked were amazing. Sound and power was incredible... if they only lasted...
End late review---
I got my Stella stratta yesterday and let me tell you what a blessing. What an incredible piece of technology. I suffer from insomnia and I've been up listening for 18 hours easily. It's just incredible I have had my speakers for nearly 30 years. Never sounded so good. Next step is when the bhk 250 arrives. Simply can't wait. I watch Paul's videos every day. Have his book. What an inspirational man. .... update got it yesterday at around 11am. Still listening today at 2:30pm... been listening for quite a...
Read moreI can only speak to the quality of the Stellar Gain Cell DAC. As far as support they are top notch.
I've had nothing but issues with this unit after the 1st 8mo. or so and one was serious enough to blow a pair of $6,500 speakers (the crossovers and woofers, woofer was odd and not tweeters). The issues are well documented, even on their website (forums). My serious issue, the one that blew the speakers, was when I pushed the mute button, about 78db gain, and POW!!!
Being that the issues were documented and my unit was out of warranty, I was impressed that they repaired it at no charge, just paid for shipping (one way), thus the comment on support.
After a few months the problems with the gain control (volume) returned and so I turned down to a whisper and hit the mute button, again pow!, hopefully I did not damage anything however time will tell... I'll also add that when I happened to have my iphone out, on a call, and went over to turn down, I also noticed a pulsating sound that was caused by RFI. This was very disappointing as I would have expected better shielding.
It's extremely disappointing as the unique nature of the gain cell is one of the main reasons for my purchase decision (I don't even use the DAC). I decided to buy a Schiit Freya + line pre-amplifier as the replacement. Sadly here is their support is awful and PS Audio lost a...
Read moreMy wife and I were passing through Boulder and decided to stop by. We are both musicians and music enthusiasts, and I've been watching Paul's videos on YouTube. Chris Brunhaven gave us a tour, and what a great afternoon we had. Chris was very generous with his time, knowledge, and presence, and the listening demo was wonderful - jaw dropping at times. We were so touched that a business could allow for such a meaningful interaction when he hadn't spent a penny yet. We will definitely be keeping these guys in mind as our home audio journey unfolds. Thank you, Chris! And thank you, Paul, for the beautiful music components and...
