My father has been at Sandstone for rehabilitation, and I could not be more pleased with the staff there. We moved him from a different care center and, therefore, I feel I have a pretty decent perspective on why this place is definitely highly recommended:
1- When there has been an issue it has been small (lost laundry, phone systems down, transportation problems) the directors have taken ownership, apologized, and made immediate adjustments ensure those issues don't happen again. This is a HUGE reason I am so impressed with Sandstone. They do not sweep things under the rug or point fingers at others. They take accountability for their actions because they know they are awesome. Shay is calm and soft-spoken and brings a wonderful smile to even difficult situations. She knows her stuff and is so impressive with her out of the box thinking and helpfulness. 2- Shoutout to Brandon for being a communicative director over the CNAs and nurses who are both personable and skilled. There are quite a few who I feel like I would consider friends even after my father leaves the facility. That is because they care about us all and our health/happiness. 3- The OTs and PTs actually do their jobs. They keep up on my dad and have helped him progress in a steady manner even when there have been health set backs. I am especially impressed with the kindness this team shows my dad. I truly believe his progress is also due to Bart's uplifting personality and motivational attitude. He gives my dad a listening ear as much as he gives him the workout that is capable of for the day. 4- The rooms have tables and mini fridges as well as a closet as side tables. They handled a covid outbreak like champs and kept it from spreading but clearly communicated with the families. The place is clean in general, and they have had things going on for the holidays. They also have church services for him on Sundays.
Finally, I know that this place actually holds their care meetings as they should, and they make the necessary changes and adjustments to each individual's care plan when needed. They pivot as necessary in order to ensure the best possible outcome each week. They know my dad and can speak about him when I have questions because the communication between each other, with my father, and with us as a family is constant and consistent.
If you are looking for a rehabilitation center, I would highly...
Read moreWell, stupid me! I wish I read the reviews before my sister went to this place. She was transferred from the U Hospital (wonderful place and care!!!). Didn’t arrive until 5:00 pm. Got to her room very big room, nice and clean. I arrived later that evening about 9:00 pm . The facility was locked so I rang the bell. Someone, don’t know who because all she did was give me a scout and rolled her eyes, I said hello to her, no answer. She walked away and left me to find my sister, laying on the so called matress (basically a foam rubber pad) and hard as rock! a pillow that was like cardboard, again, hard as rock, it wouldn’t bend. No blanket. I heaped her get her things settled and told her I would brings pillows from home and some blankets. Then left. She called me later that evening crying and to inform me, she has NO meds at all!!! And in terrible pain. Not 1 person has checked on her or welcomed her there , nothing and she has been there over 5 hours!!! She has been on daily pain meds, plus many other daily meds. She had NO water or anything to drink. Then to top it off she had to go to the desk where she found 2 women sitting on their phones! She asked for a Diet Coke or water and if she could get a sandwich or something to eat. She was told she missed dinner and if she wanted food or a Diet Coke , SHE WOULD NEED TO PURCHASE IT!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! As if we don’t pay enough for these places! My sister asked if I would pick her up the next morning as she is NOT staying there. I’m sure it’s just a few of the people working there but we will see what tomorrow brings. But if you are not a caring, compationate kind is person… this is not the...
Read moreI cannot describe how bad this place is. Any positive review here is a lie to blind innocent people who’ll think this place is a best match for their loved one. The DON I believe her name is Natalie. Is a very horrible person. She’s rude to cna’s who stick up for themselves and for patients being poorly attended here. She’ll kick any cna out who tries to tell her she needs to help patients she even told a cna that was worried about the care here, “well what do you want me to do about it?” With such disinterest and not a single care in the world. The manager is just as awful. This place is beyond dirty. Im shocked to how it even passes health code. Most families don’t know this but most hoyer lifts here don’t even work. Your loved one will be dropped and decline fast. ive seen cockroaches lingering in the kitchen. There is definitely a cockroach and ant infestation as the other reviews claim!!!! I’ve seen many people die here due to depression and the bad treatment patients get here. PLEASE READ MY REVIEW!! What has been said is what I’ve witnessed and completely 100% true. Don’t let the positive reviews fool you!! This place does in fact needs to be reported to state. If you get ahold of your social worker please tell them how your loved one is treated here. Things will...
