The ice cream is to die for. I look forward every month as well to see what new seasonal flavors they will be offering. I’ve never been disappointed at all! Peach is a favorite and I LOOOVE how you guys use fresh, local peaches. Each flavor has the perfect mix in ratios, perfect creaminess and perfect sweetness. It’s definitely worth the money because you can tell you are paying for fresh ingredients and quality that you can’t get from ice cream that comes from the grocery store. Plus, their shop always smells amazing when you walk in and I love supporting small, local businesses.
HOWEVER—— Would it kill your employees to have a smile on their face once in a while?? I’m not asking for over the top, chipper Disneyland attitudes. I’ve worked in customer service and I get it, it can suck sometimes and it can definitely be exhausting! And I get that these are High School kids and for most of them it’s their first job. But they aren’t adults yet! They don’t have bills and stressors of the world and they don’t have to worry about trying to afford a house in this economy or potty training their child etc etc. You work in an ice cream shop for heavens sake! What could be better?? The only thing you need to worry about is getting your homework done and if that guy/gal is going to text you back and what you’re going to plan for the weekend.
SMILE. SMILE. SMILE. It goes a long way! The world isn’t as awful as it seems. Life isn’t that depressing I promise. It could be a hell of a lot worse! And believe me ENJOY being a teenager because once you’re an adult, time just flies by and pretty soon you’re waking up in the morning with a sore back, you can’t stay up past midnight anymore, and ew! What stinks! Since when did eating THAT give me bad gas?! You get the idea.
…And you’ll wish you could go back to those simplistic times again! Just don’t act like I’m being the biggest bother to you when I’m having you do your job which is to serve me, the customer, ice cream at a customer service establishment. You knew what you were signing up for when you took this job. Word of mouth spreads quickly… there are quite a bit of reviews on here about the customer service lacking. That alone could potentially take your business down if you’re not careful. And I’d hate to...
Read moreFirst time experience. Poor customer service. I came in today to get ice cream with my children, the server skipped four families to serve a couple who just walked in. When she was called out on it, she laughed. No apology. The owner apologized, but the employee should’ve done that. That is how we learn from our mistakes. Take ownership when you are in the wrong; little elementary children know this.
I took my family and went down the street to the familiar and friendly Cold Stone. If you want great service… and yummy ice cream, go to Cold Stone.
Reply to owner: Please check your camera as I did NOT call your employee out. The issue was identified and brought to your attention. I was an observer. The employee did not cry she exchanged words with the customers then laughed. She skipped four families (3 were colored) to serve another. I posted that I took my family and business elsewhere. Consumers have choices. Don't fabricate your story, it’s telling of how you run operations. At this point it’s no longer about the employee, but about you. If you want to win people over, drop the name calling (that is juvenile). Invite the customer back to win them over and leave a better review and most importantly don’t falsely accuse someone. After reviewing 1 star ratings from other patrons there is a theme of dissatisfaction with customer service. It also appears that you are keenly aware of these reviews and use the same excuse of "underage employment" to justify behavior along with lack of respect, responsibility or courtesy. Reviews are supposed to help your business improve. You should not let your underage employees respond to customer reviews. P.S. Notice I did not post your employee's name? Notice how YOU don't use your name? Karen is my friend’s name. She is kind. When you use "Karen" the way you do... it comes off as condescending and offensive... to someone with that name. Karen is a Danish name and it means "pure." What image comes to your mind? "Karen" as you used it references a specific type of middle class white woman who exhibits behaviors that stem from privilege (BBC). A final thought " when you find yourself in a hole, quit digging" Better luck on your customer...
Read moreI already liked the place because they can pack some amazingly intense flavors into their ice cream. My husband doesn't like ice cream in general, but he loves their Campfire S'mores flavor. It seriously tastes like you roasted your marshmallow on a fire and then swirled it into the ice cream. Yum!!!
But this last time I went, I was truly in awe. And if you're a parent to a child with allergies, you'll know what I mean. I noticed a board that has some flavors listed for gluten free, dairy free and allergy conscious. You do have to buy it in pre-packaged containers, but that keeps it that much safer. =)
So I asked about the board and I was shown the ingredient list for the base and they use a vegan, gluten free, oat milk base for this series of flavors. The worker suggested that I email to get more exact information, which I sent off a few days ago. I got the response today and am so excited. They gave me a list of the ingredients for each flavor.
Strawberry Basil, Blueberry Lemon, Royal Dutch, Golden Passionfruit & Jade Matcha.
(They did note that the Royal Dutch has a potential for milk cross-contamination with the chocolate due to shared equipment, so avoid that if your dairy allergy is extreme.)
We haven't told my son yet that some of these flavors are safe for him. So for the first time in a long while, he'll be able to go out and have a treat with the family in the shop. I can't wait to...
