We were seated as soon as we walked in which was nice. We placed our order and all was fine. Then people around us that placed orders after us all received their food and were eating yet we had received nothing. After calling the waitress over and asking where our food was we then received our food within five minuets.
The food was beyond awful. The dishes were ordered with medium spice. They had no spice and no flavor. The sauces were not cooked correctly if at all. The chicken vindaloo was tomato sauce with hardly a pinch of Turmeric to give it a slight color variation. It tasted just like tomato sauce out of the jar from any supermarket. The raw and very acidic tomato taste like a plain marinara sauce base. It was even the same bright red color. The sauce of the chicken coconut karma was just as bad. It was coconut milk. The sauces were never simmered and cooked with spices. The chicken had zero flavor as well. They were not marinated as in traditional Indian dishes. The rice was not fully cooked, it was crunchey in the center, and very oily.
This is not authentic Indian food flavors. If you want to pretend to eat Indian food well then this will be your place. If you want to experience the wonderful flavors and spices that true Indian dishes offer look eails where because they were not found...
Read moreI've been here a few times and it's pretty good. I'd give it 3.5. Their spicy scale is on the mild side fyi. I found "very hot" pleasantly spicy. They brought out some hot sauce for someone in my party who didn't find medium hot hot enough which was appreciated. Several vegan options. Unfortunately they don't specify which are vegan on their menu but they have an allergy menu in their website which is very helpful and informative if slightly difficult to read because you have to follow the small lines on the chart across to figure out which allergy label applies to which dish. The menu doesn't mention that you must ask your server in order for some dishes to be made allergy-friendly- otherwise they will use dairy cream instead of non-dairy coconut for instance. I had the baingan bharta and it was pretty good. The garlic naan isn't bad although it seems to be made with garlic powder. I love garlic powder but the absence of cooked minced garlic makes the naan inferior to some naans you can get. The service was good. Don't forget that they close somewhat early - we were there well before closing time but when finishing our meal felt we might be inconveniencing people because they asked to clear things more than once so I would go a bit earlier next time...
Read moreThe experience of ordering from Royal India was a quick online purchase experience. The app told us a 45 minute wait time, but surprisingly the food was ready within 20 minutes.
Upon arrival, I did my normal test and asked for extra rice, it was $3, not size options were shown to me and what they gave me was a quite small container.
The good itself was good, but not great. The chicken was sliced and cooked nicely and the flavors of the currys we're good, but s little bland. You could tell they have had to adapt to the very white population of bountiful. I had chosen medium and there wasn't even a hint of spiciness. If I do return, I would likely have to choose a much hotter option to get any spiciness.
The rice itself was sadly jasmine rice and not basñtsami rice. Which is quote disappointing for nearly $17 per person to get some cheap jasmine rice and a small thing of curry.
The experience will likely be sufficient for most, but not for those who really enjoy Indian food. I would recommend most anyone try the food themselves once and see if it...
