The store was not nearly as colorful and active as the pictures on Google appeared to be, even on what should've been an active event day. Truth be told though, this store just needs some TLC and "coaching up" so to speak.
When we came in, we wandered around and had no staff address us. We even only had one customer even make any small talk of any kind. The space was not laid out in the most efficient way or used all that efficiently. We also had a woman in our group decline to use their restroom when peeking into it.
Overall, these are all fixable things. This store is like a week's worth of work and some elbow grease put into some little things and maybe some furniture rearranging from being a four star place. If you're in the area, it's likely still worth checking out. Could be an OK neighborhood game place.
Parking also seems available along the street and across the street...
Read moreDecent game store. Vastly marks up their prices for magic cards. Maybe that's "smart business," but there's a shop in Port Orchard that isn't doing that and seems to be surviving just fine. If you want to overpay for magic cards there is another store just a few blocks from here where you can pay about the same, but you can also get good food or have a drink to numb the pain of overpaying for stuff. Much better atmosphere there, IMO.
**Editing my review because these smug tools had the nerve to say the prices are "too high" for me.
I bought cards from them. It's not about what I can afford. Other dealers in the area are not using TCG to set their pricing and are pricing their cards reasonably based on what they pay, rather than basing prices on what scalpers charge. End of story.
What an embarrassing reply from the business. Down from three...
Read moreI've been to multiple TCG shops in the area and this one is my favorite. It's the busiest for a reason; people like the vibes and culture; one of the Callow's strongest pillars (I love that they are open late on Saturdays)!
Regarding singles, they are very fair across the board. It's possible to get better prices in other shops sometimes; that's why it pays to research to get the best deals, but consistently, they try to make it right by their customers and I don't feel ripped off.
Regarding events, it has a diverse community, and as a newbie, the average player has been patient with me and there has been little to no elitism towards me. They have a great judge for MtG and there is no such thing as a dumb question here.
Other shops have their own pros and cons, but Discordia is...
