Grew up in this venue pretty much, from age 12 to my later teenage years I can remember going to punk shows at the Charleston, before the Charleston you could find me at the AFU across the street. Amazing environment, some of the greatest most welcoming people, and super cool staff as well. I remember when this place first opened, I put one of the very first stickers on the stage. Used to go every weekend to shows because my stepdad was the drummer in a popular local punk band and the bassist at the time was a member of the staff at the Charleston. Major Shoutout to the people who work here for keeping this place going and the people who attend shows and keep this place going. So many great memories here that I will never forget. Thanks to everyone who works at the Charleston for continuing to add to the rich punk/metal show history that Bremerton has to offer. Best concert venue I’ve ever been to by far. Hope to come back one day soon to catch a show and see some old friends. Much love and respect ! CALLOW...

The highlight obviously being the music. Mostly punk or metal adjacent. The worst issue here is simply some bands sound check their setup to a point where crazy loud sounds layer on top of crazy loud sounds and their music is lost in the noise... This appears to be a band by band intentional choice, though, and not the fault of the venue because some bands have had it set up perfectly and the music really comes through.
Would give it...
Read moreIncredible all-ages venue (with bar), built in an old theater. It's dive-y, quirky, friendly, and very punk rock. Fliers from old hardcore shows and hand painted banners adorn the old curtained walls. It doesn't remind me of a specific place, but it does remind me of a specific feeling I get when experiencing subversive art that I love! Worth taking the trip over by ferry from Seattle to see some underground punk legends on the same bill as the amazing local crust/d-beat/hardcore bands you hear on...
