GameStop continues to impress with pretentious employees. I recently went to the location to trade in an Apple TV. After already going there earlier and having to come back (which was my fault because I forgot the remote). I was told it was denied because it was damaged. The damage was that the bottom was “pushy and soft”. That made no sense since the bottom of an Apple TV is RUBBER. What do you think the material of rubber is made of? Lol Then the manager got involved and said I have no problem with the bottom but it’s actually the scratch. I asked what he was talking about and he couldn’t even answer. Just said he didn’t know. There were no deep or multiple-visible scratches on the unit. I went to another GameStop (toms River) where the employees were not only friendly but did a great job getting me to resign up for the pro membership. As a former retail exec I was impressed with their sales pitch and the way they supported one another to close the sale. I am not an easy sale but I feel the service they provided went above and beyond and thus I signed up for the pro membership. Back to the brick location…I traded some items in their and was told I couldn’t trade them in if the ID didn’t match the membership I was trying to use (my wife came in and we used her id). Weird policy but whatever. Why in the world wouldn’t they just try to have my wife sign up for a membership? You could of had an easy sign up by simply saying “I apologize but unfortunately if the ID doesn’t match……..but we’d be more than happy to sign you up mam….”. Easy. I don’t blame store management for this but rather the inadequate and extreme pressure that clearly corporate puts on this team. Poor experience. I’ll just buy my games on digital...
Read moreWhich GameStop location you choose greatly affects the service you receive. We find that the staff in the Ocean County Mall store are always helpful, friendly, and will give advice or answer any questions. Previously owned game systems, accessories or games are usually a good buy. They are also guaranteed. When buying a game system or a game, I would highly recommend the $2 or $3 protection plan. It is well worth it, as my 12 year old son can be a little rough with his electronics. With the protection plan they will exchange the game at no cost if it becomes scratched or cracks or is defective. The $2 or $3 is a great investment and much cheaper than having to buy another copy of the game for $50 or $60 bucks. The yearly power up membership is also a good investment. For less than twenty bucks a year, you receive a discount on all purchases, and a copy of the gamer Insider magazine once a month. It pays for itself many times over. My only gripe is with the game buyback program. It is ridiculous that you are offered$2 for a game you paid $60 for just a few months ago. Take the time to check their website, there are often promotions offered where high demand games are worth more to trade in. Every single staff member at the Ocean County Mall...
Read moreWish I could give them a zero. I walked in with two games to return both in plastic both never used. My nephew who is Special Needs didn't tell me that he had a PS4 I thought he had a PS5. I bought him two PS5 games from game store a couple days before Christmas. I went in today to try to exchange them and they told me that it was past the date that I could exchange them I had until 1/13 to make any changes after Christmas. That's not even a 30-day exchange time frame from Christmas . I tried to call the corporate office I asked for a supervisor and the stupid person that answered the phone refused to give me one most stores that you go to a week later would give you that week extra to return something. The guy on the phone was very rude he even said this call is getting nowhere and he...
