I've really got to stop getting tempted to try out every latest venture-capitalist driven "food trend" restaurant that comes to town, but I guess I'm a sucker for punishment.
"Wonder" is, as advertised - a place where no matter what someone is in the mood for, should theoretically offer a flavor for all. In this, it pulls off its main mission (sorta). However, this is where the good things end.
The reality: What you get is essentially airline food. Everything sold is made elsewhere and trucked in so that the folks in the back can either toss it directly in an oven, heat it in a steam tray, or give it to ol' "Chef Mike" to "finish the job".
I will mirror what another person said - AVOID the pizza. I absolutely love Detroit style, and whatever the abomination I got was absolute not it. Little Caesars is better, and sure as heck doesn't cost $18+ for whatever THAT was. A friend was feeling a little more adventurous and got one of the steaks, which was... fine I guess? Nowhere even remotely near the $35+ paid for the thing, considering it came with no sides. For 'corporate food', this stuff is all insanely expensive for some reason, and I do not get why.
All in all, I do not see myself bothering with this again. Especially when there's a plethora of family-owned restaurants nearby that offer the same dishes for less money, and are actually...
Read moreSharing for anyone else who is curious. This is not a legit food hall or space with multiple restaurants as marketed. Similar to how Uber uses “Ghost Kitchens” this is the same concept. Wonder has rights to the menus of the restaurants it markets. That said, it’s a small spot with one large kitchen. Depending on what you order, they make it how the restaurant would without it being made by the actual place you are choosing to order from. That’s why there are so many mixed reviews. If you’re picky (like me) then you’re better off going directly to the place you want to eat at. If you don’t mind it being prepared by someone else similar to how the restaurant would because they have rights to the menu and ingredients, then give wonder a try. I could see the kitchen was very clean and organized and the employees were working quickly at a busy time to get the food out. There are like two tables to sit down inside and a family was there enjoying their food. So definitely not for everyone but they should be honest in the fact that it’s not the actual restaurant they are marketing. It’s wonder employees making the food similar to the restaurant. My one star is based on it being misleading. I didn’t eat anything there once I realized what it was so the food...
Read moreFor what it is, Wonder is very good! I got the chicken sandwich and my boyfriend got boneless wings. Everything was hot and fresh. However, if I was craving a specific cuisine, I would probably order takeout from a local restaurant that specializes in that specific food. Wonder's food is pretty good though, and if you have a group that can't agree on what they want to eat Wonder is the perfect option. The store itself was very clean and the staff were super friendly. If your whole group wants thai, maybe order from a thai restaurant, but if some want wings, others want barbecue, and someone wants a pizza, Wonder is a good choice. They also tend to have good deals and coupons from time to time so that is a plus. Large range of clearly labeled vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy-free and allergen-free food; Another huge plus. All allergens or restrictions are clearly noted on the app or in-store. Having the nutrition facts all readily available...
