UPDATE AFTER OWNER RESPONSE: Your response is inaccurate. I only politely expressed my disappointment with this absurd buying process (not disdain). If you're in the market for a Porsche you simply place your order and get your Porsche. You don't have to engage in any sycophancy to get the car. If anything this sheds very negative light on Rolex's fabricated supply shortage and/or bad demand planning.
Moreover, I would have LOVED to come in to get the Rolex experience & try the Datejusts you may have in stock esp. the Wimbledon dial fluted or a grey/charcoal dial plain bezel. But the problem was that you just would NOT stop talking to me as if you were trying to get through to a 2 year old child. Sure I may not be one of your "clients" who has purchased $200K worth of Rolexes but remember today's little nut could be tomorrow's mighty oak. Try to treat your poorest/newest customers with kindness.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Absolutely blown away by the arrogance and snootiness on display at Rottermond. If you have significant money to drop on fine jewelry (or heck even if you don’t have money but simply want to browse) but want to be treated with respect, kindness and warmth then this is NOT the place for you. Read on:
I called in to simply inquire/ have a conversation about how I could purchase a Rolex from Rottermond and what the wait times, pricing etc looked like for a particular model/config I’m in the market for. I was already aware that purchasing a Rolex isn’t as simple as one having a bag full of money and walking in at the AD and walking out with a Rolex. I knew it’s wrought with a good amount of absurdity- wherein you have to “build a relationship” with the dealer-aka buy enough items from them to be considered worth their time and to have them bump you up on the “waitlist” for a Rolex for which YOU are willing to part with upwards of $20K. Yet I was like ok it’s the price to pay for a beautiful gem so be it. So I made the mistake of calling rottemond and had the utter misfortune of speaking to a Christine on the phone. Right from the get go the painfully condescending tone she used with me was just mind blowing and insulting. It’s almost like she was annoyed at me that I was looking for the said “very high demand” Rolex model and insisted why I wouldn’t settle for a Datejust instead. She kept explaining to me how supply and demand are on opposite ends of the spectrum right now repeating herself at least seven times to the point I had to ask her to stop. I asked how dumb does she think anyone is that she has to go on belaboring the point? To which she responds in an even worse tone saying “well you keep wanting that one watch only and I’m trying to explain to you that I can’t get you the watch”. I was like ok, I travel all over the US and the world and I know there are many other ADs out there in Dubai, Vegas, India, etc. where people have had success walking in and getting a Rolex or at least not being flat out told that they stand no chance at getting said watch. And where I’d be treated with utmost respect as compared to the jarringly contrasting experience here with Christine. Oh and not to mention that there’s a plethora of brand new authentic Rolexes out there with the exact same config that I’m looking for. Sure I’ll have to pay an extra $3-4K premium to get it on my wrist asap but if I’m already shelling out close to $20K then another $3-4K isn’t going to make or break me.
At this point this woman was so annoyed that I wasn’t bending to her wish of settling for a date just that she outright told me “well I have another call I need to go to”.
This sort of snootiness and arrogance should not be rewarded no matter how much much or how less money a customer has. The fact that Rottermond treats its potential customers like this right at the outset speaks volumes. I dodged a bullet and I’m glad I’m not giving such a sizeable business to such a terrible place. I’m blown away by how awful my experience was. Shame on Rottermond. Rolex corporate needs to read this if they’re to maintain their image....

Read moreI wanted to take time to share the great experience that I had with Rottermond Jewelers this morning:
Before I came in to Rottermond Jewelers I had attempted to go to Cooper and Binkley Jewelers. It was just a few minutes before I came to your store. It was right at 9:40 am a little before their opening time of 10 am. I walked up to their front door and knocked on the glass and held up the Box that my watch was in. I wasn’t expecting them to fix it right at that moment I just wanted to see if I could drop the watch off. There were three women in the store behind the counters. Not one of them would come to the door. Instead the lady closest to me just shook her head no and wouldn’t even walk to the door to acknowledge me. Even after I said I just want to drop this off, she just looked at me and shook her head no. Not one bit of effort was made to communicate with me at all. I actually looked at the lady through the glass and said you know what? I will take my business elsewhere! I then walked over to your store where once again I wasn’t expecting you guys to add the link right then, and was prepared to drop the watch off. I was also there before your store officially opened. I was pleasantly surprised when you let me in and ended up adding the link while I waited. I also was fully expecting to pay for the link being added and again was pleasantly surprised that I was not charged for the service.
That type of customer service is what brings customers back and generates priceless word of mouth referrals. I am also in the retail business and have 60 plus employees that work for me at my store. I actually pulled all of my managers in this morning and shared my experiences, both good and bad, and used your store as an example of how we need to treat our customers and their store as an example of how to lose valuable customers. I will be purchasing a Shinola watch in the near future and when I do it will be from...
