This is the most unfriendly Guitar Center I've ever been to. I have been here twice and both visits were awful. I pre-ordered and paid for a guitar pedal a day in advance the first time and when I arrived the following day to collect it I asked the first employee where I would find my item and they said they didn't know. I looked around for someone else because the first person walked away quickly. I asked another employee and they told me to wait at a booth to which I did and they seemingly forgot about me because I was standing around for a long time and never saw that person again. I was given the run around many times and finally got my pedal after a manager type showed up at the booth and proceeded with an extensive verification questionnaire. This took over an hour and the place wasn't even busy and staff were visibly bothered about my inquiries. I vowed never to pre-order anything from there again.
The second visit I thought would be super simple as I only needed to buy a couple of microphone cables. I knew where they were after my last visit and I quickly found some and made my way to the front register. There were 3 employees standing there who did notice me but continued on with their personal conversation until they were satisfied. After many quips were exchanged and private jokes said, one of them turned towards me and waved me forward. I was again asked for all kinds of personal information for two $8 cables. I said I had cash and did not want to give my phone number and email and they said I could not buy it otherwise. I said that I had never been to store that would not let me give them cash for an item and they said they NEEDED to email me my receipt. I refused and they said they wouldn't give me a receipt otherwise. I was then told that I should "go off on my own adventure" whatever that means by a really rude cashier. No wonder brick and mortar stores are doomed. You'd think at least one of the people I encountered here would realize the dilemma the company must be in due to online competition but literally no one gave a sh**.
This place is totally awful and I will never set foot in a Guitar...
Read moreI came in today to look at some guitars. Sold a 56' ES and have been dying to find a replacement. I wanted to demo the new Gibson line up and I was surprise that Guitar Center had them already in store. While I was glancing at the massive wall of guitars an employee by the name of Rick Sinkoe asked if I needed assistance. I wanted to find something unique and Rick helped me to a backroom that had some really unique guitars. I was happy to find a Heritage ES copy but one that caught my eye was an all natural Rickenbacker priced very well. We both agreed that the price was attractive especially for something of this quality. I asked if I could take it into the acoustic room to demo it out because I wanted to see how it played. Rick did not hesitate to get me into the quiet acoustic room. He gave me plenty of time to get to know the guitar. When it came down to business Rick was not pushy and very friendly. Being a recent college graduate I wanted something nice but I have to work with a certain budget which lead me to ask if he could price match a promotion on Musiciansfriend. Rick led me to his boss and had the deal done very quickly. I am very happy with Guitar Center's price matching policy. In all honesty it is probably the one thing that made me walk out of this location with a Rickenbacker. Upon checkout Rick also had a call that asked specifically for him. He got me checked out, grabbed my hardcase, and original box for the guitar all while simultaneously taking care of another customer. Talk about determination. This location is great. The inventory and unique stuff they carry is worth traveling to. I saw a used USA ludwig shell kit with a very appealing price and even some nice used Gibson acoustics that I haven't even heard of. My girlfriend also had a great time. We jokingly played the keyboards dramatically and noone seem to be bothered. They let us entertain ourselves while being very helpful. Shoutout to Rick. Guy has an eye for those who need assistance and is committed to help a musician out. I hope his employers see this review and give him praise. Great work bud! I'll...
Read more[ ] I started taking drum lessons at Guitar Center about a year and a half ago. My instructor Jazz is amazing , she taught me so much and made the experience enjoyable and relatable. Unfortunately, my positive experience with her was overshadowed by poor handling of the billing process. After noticing inconsistent payment withdrawals both in timing and amount I placed a lock on my card. I reached out to Kenny (the Lessons Lead) to request clarification and to ask that my billing be aligned with my income schedule, as surprise charges were causing financial issues for me. I sent a detailed and respectful email on May 20 requesting specific answers about billing, including why charges were not consistent and how reschedules were affecting my balance. Rather than address any of my concerns, Kenny responded by canceling all of my lessons with no explanation, no discussion, and no offer to help me resolve the issue. This made me feel like my concerns didn’t matter and that all they cared about was getting a payment through, not supporting a loyal student. This review has nothing to do with my instructor Jazz, she is amazing and deserves recognition but it has everything to do with how this facility is managed. The store smells like a sweaty men’s locker room, and some employees are outright rude or dismissive. I’m not writing this to deter anyone from coming in, but to share my experience in the hopes that this location improves how it communicates with and treats...
