Avila Beach Park — Attraction in California

It is yet another one of the few beaches that you can wade in.....but watch for hypothermia. The water in this area of CA, is super-cold and most will use wetsuits. Due to prior extensive oil pollution in this beach, I would also research. They had to replace the top few feet of soil in Avila town due to oil residue.

The views here are nice & it is pleasant to walk barefoot on the shore. Food & hotels are right here & the 101 is just a few miles away. Prices are rather high for what you get here. Beautiful little section of the beach with lots of history linked with world war 2 (as a military nerd, love it). I had never been there before until ‘15 but been many times since. The family had little get away here on Mother’s Day but beach wasn’t crowded either because of that day, or the fact it was so windy. The park itself is nice and well kept. The bathrooms while not the cleanest but certainly far from being the worse. The little aquarium place at it is nice as well. The beach is great. There are multiple bathrooms and places to rinse your feet off. There are restaurants and a coffee shop. The water is COLD even in summer. But, the weather is pretty nice so you can walk the beach year-round. Dogs are allowed before 10 am and after 5 pm. As for the playground: It's a good park for by a beach. But, as a park on it's own it's just okay. It's really close to a road/parking which can be good (park close) or bad (child running towards cars). It's pretty darn small.
