Camp Verde Ace Hardware — Attraction in Camp Verde

I waited for 15 minutes for the only employee on the floor to finish his small talk with a young mom and her daughter about the dangers of leaving a Dr Pepper in your car in the sun. I had to chase him down and asked for help. After putting the broom away and messing about in the utility room he came to help. To say that this guy is an HR nightmare is to understate it hugely. I need a gas line elbow for a propane line. His name is “Gunny” by the way. He begins to condescend me because I was looking at the water line products. So then he tells me to go to mobile Home Depot instead of helping me find the item! No I was counting on his product knowledge and experience but he decided to make fun of me for being in the wrong section. The section he pointed out for me! I told him I did not appreciate his attitude and he followed me out to my car screaming that I could talk to the manager who was there I guess by then. This is a serious training issue and I am aware of the difficulties in getting and training people that give a flying crap about anything! Huge failure on this one!! I am in an Ace hardware in this area multiple times daily as I am a maintenance manager for several large property management companies. I will not be patronizing this...

I called Camp Verde Ace telling them I needed four gallons of a stock color Ace Brand stain. Ace man said they had three but could order one more gallon. I said OK, order it and I'll come in and get them. Ace man said I'd have to come in a pay for the one gallon, a whopping $26. I explained I lived 10 miles away and didn't really want to spend 45 minutes driving there and back, (yes it takes that long) to get them to stock one more gallon of paint "No can do" said the ACE man. "All special orders have to be prepaid". I said to Ace man asking you to stock one more gallon of an Ace Paint you carry is not really a "special order". Ace man said "it's company policy". I replied I thought Ace was know for Service and if wanted to treated like this I would just shop at the Home Depot.

Now wouldn't you think a hardware store with a couple million $$ in inventory could handle stocking one more gallon of a Ace brand paint they currently stock if I didn't come in and buy that...

Camp Verde ACE Hardware is the best. Chevy was amazing! ACE.com gave me misinformation about a compression shut-off valve. The error was realized when I got to the store. I pointed it out to Chevy. She followed me to the aisle of sprinkler system items. Sure enough there is an online error which Chevy said she would point out to corporate. BUT more importantly, she searched all the numerous sprinkler system items until she found the item I needed; a 5/8" .70 OD compression shut-off valve. (not the .63). It was somewhat hidden and possibly even in the wrong place, but Chevy looked until she finally found it. It would have been easy for her to simply say "ACE doesn't have it", but she did not do that.
