Verde Valley Resale Shop — Attraction in Camp Verde

I always thought This was a great place to find a bargain until the experience my mother and aunt had today with the male subject at the cash register. My parents have lived in this little town for years and my mother and wife and sisters in law love going to the antique stores and have spent large amounts of money there. Today my mother and aunt walked into Verde Valley Resale, they are both Hispanic and only speak Spanish. At the entrance instead of the usual welcome from the lady that usually runs the place they got an unusual demand from the older male at the entrance. The guy said to them "hey you can't come in with your purse, leave it here with me!" My mother and aunt didn't really know what he wanted and he pointed to their purses and the counter, so they gave him the purses and he sat them on top of the counter. My mother noticed how other (WHITE) women were walking into to the store and they were not asked to leave their purses at the counter. They felt singled out for being Spanish speakers and pointed out the many customers that walked in with a purse and weren't asked to leave it. My wife walked in a few minutes later and noticed the 2 purses on the counter and asked the guy at the entrance where is the lady's that own this purses and why are they sitting on the counter. The guy responded that they were trying to prevent thefts. My wife was not asked to leave the purse neither did other customers walking in. Due to this stereotype experience they have decided to not shop at this store anymore. I would like an answer from the owner about why or how he selects who comes in with a purse and who can't. There are other antique stores in camp verde that have great deals and great customer service from the friendly staff. I suggest you consider this incident before...

This place is great!! If you're familiar with Brass Armadillo, this is very similar, but smaller so it's not an all day affair. That said, they do have a lot of really neat items packed in. You can tell they don't just let anybody sell or just anything be sold, so everything is useful and will for sure sell. And the ladies working there were really pleasant and helpful. I also loved the music section just to the left when you walk in. Lots of great instruments, drum sticks, djembes, ukeleles and more....

Treasures abound here and prices are less than half what you'd find in Phoenix. I got a beautiful lined Gypsy skirt for $18 that I'm complimented on every time I wear it, beautiful and elegant home made greeting cards at $3 each, a solid copper kettle for $5, a beautiful artists piece of lightening patterns on an old cabinet door that is absolutely stunning... Someone has a booth of really old fishing poles and tackle there that I think they may not know the...
