CineLux Plaza Theatre — Attraction in Campbell

Today, we celebrated my sons' 9th and 10th birthdays at the CineLux Plaza Theatre in Campbell, and it was an amazing experience. From the first time I spoke with the movie theater manager, Peter, I knew I was in great hands. Peter has been with the movie theater for 30+ years and has hosted many parties there throughout the years, including his own kids' birthday parties. Peter guided me through the entire planning process, from recommending the best time of the day to host the party to the best auditorium for our guests, to even the best place to order pizza (which happened to be Luigi's right next door). Peter picked up the phone whenever I called him with questions (which was a lot), even on his days off, and always reassured me that my party would be a blast, and it was! Peter showed an amazing amount of flexibility by offering us custom packages, finding us extra chairs for the guests, and more. The movie theater itself was new, super clean, with very helpful staff, and perfect for my 55-person celebration. The lobby had nice tables and chairs where we could enjoy pizza before the show and some cupcakes after the show. On the day of the party, Peter came in to work on his day off and stayed for two hours to make sure everything went smoothly. My kids' friends and their parents loved our party. They couldn't stop talking about the lovely experience they had and how perfect everything was. Thank you so much, Peter, and your amazing team, for taking such great care of us and our guests. This theater is in need of a refresh and better movie handling.

First off, the signage could be better. The theater is actually split between two buildings. Theaters 1-5 are in one building and theaters 6+ are in the other building across the parking lane. There's no clear signage about where theaters 6+ are, and we only found out because someone asked.

Secondly, the seats would benefit from replacement. The theater seats are old looking, where the upholstery on the seats is peeling off. Also, the seats rock a little bit, and my husband's seat was creaky.

Lastly, they need to get better with handling the lights for the movie. At other theaters I've been to, the lights dim when the previews start, turn mostly off when the movie starts, and turn on when the movie credits roll. When dimmed, I usually expect the top lights to turn off and the side lights to be dimmed. A nice theater also only turns the lights on during the credits after a mid credits scene. This theater didn't turn the lights off when the movie started, and someone had to go and ask them to turn the lights off because the top lights were shining on the screen. The movie we were watching also had a lengthy mid credit scene that was harder to watch because they had already turned the lights fully on.

I really enjoyed going to this movie theatre. It’s my first time coming to CineLux Campbell. I came because my son works here. I usually go to AMC in my town. I am a deaf customer- I hate getting caption device at any movie theatre- due it’s clunky heavy to carry - it’s awful gooseneck that’s hard to stay put in either cup holder or that the device doesn’t stay up, and I usually loose my cup holder spot for my drink- but not in this CineLux Campbell movie theatre- it’s light weight, sturdy device that screwed into cup holder. The device also comes with its own cup holder!

When I asked for it, the employee didn’t know what I was asking about and he said let me go ask my manager- he went up to female manager- she told him where it is and had to show him how to turn it on- and he gave it to me I was like what this? It looks very different than what I usually get. I was worried it looked so small and it has shadow box that has caption in back that I will have hard time reading into the device. It wasn’t so- yes I would want it to be a tad bit bigger but I didn’t find hard to read and it was sturdy and short enough within my eye level- I didn’t have to do too much adjustment.
