Read moreLos Gatos Creek Trail is great for runners and bikers. With a variety of entrance points, it's easy to find the most convenient starting point for your workout. The paved trail surface is great for a long-distance run or a leisurely bike ride.
While Los Gatos Creek Trail is not specifically catered to family activities, there are still plenty of options for families to enjoy. I recommend paying for the $6 parking fee to park close to the well maintained restrooms. You get a sceenic view of one of the ponds with plenty of space for your kids to run here. Just make sure your kids know not to get too close to the geese. The picnic tables are also a great spot for a family lunch or snack.
It also offers fishing opportunities. However, it's important to follow the park's rules and regulations when fishing. Live bait and hooks are not allowed, so be sure to bring appropriate gear.
Your dog must be on leash when not in the dog park. There is a very large gazebo that has a sign stating available on with reservation. It is great as a reception/gathering!
Be careful how to set Google Maps to this location. I found setting the GPS to "Los Gatos Creek Park Public Restroom," which has you travel on Lost Lake LN, was the best option. Otherwise, the GPS has me pulling over to the highway shoulder and then "walking" through the creek to get me to the park...
This outdoor destination offers great vistas! You found your next destination of you are looking for a beautiful place hike while enjoying nature...
Read moreIt's pretty well maintained, has fenced areas that are separate for small and large dogs, and sees a good quantity of various dogs - most of which are well monitored by their owners, and most of which are well behaved.
The large dog side is quite a lot bigger and has more shade than the small dog side, but both sides have water available. My advice would be to take a shallow plastic bowl to more easily get water from the dog fountain. I found my dog isn't real fond of the dispenser as it is (and the human fountain is used for all sorts of things - I would not recommend drinking out of it!).
Dog waste disposal bags can be found at the parking area and in each of the sections of the dog park.
There is a $6 parking fee which seems a bit steep, and while there is also an hourly fee, it's a bit of a hassle. There is also a pavilion, picnic area, and fly casting area here, the Los Gatos Creek trail, and percolation ponds. I recommend getting an annual pass which covers many parks in the area as well. There are a few places where you can park and walk in, but only very few as the park is pretty heavily used. The park is closed to dogs during Goose nesting season.
I've never had a problem finding a place to park. By the way the dog section is at the farthest end of parking lot, past the fly casting ponds. Driving up San Thomas Expressway from Camden Avenue you can spot the park...
