Whale Park — Attraction in Cannon Beach

I was not aware of this place actually had a name until I looked it up on Google Maps. I do agree with other reviewers that is a good place to come and sit and have a coffee or tea and look out over the ocean. You can gain access to the beach here and it's likely less crowded to come this way over the main route most people are taking.

You are not too far from the parking lot which is a couple blocks over and there's also street parking along this area. This park is close to the north entrance to the town. You will come across this as soon as you take a few twists and turns coming into downtown and it is right at the start of the straightaway that runs...

Very tiny park with nice small whale statue and access to the river and beach, plus a couple benches. There was absolutely no signage whatsoever explaining the significance of the whale, which is that this is the site of where the Lewis and Clark Expedition ventured to see a beached blue whale. As this is an important site for Lewis and Clark tourists, the city would do well to add signage. No parking at this location.

This is a great low key place to enjoy Cannon Beach with the family, and your dog. The sand is clean, and there are plenty of access points to move between beach and shopping / food lanes. If people complain that the beaches are crowded, then they're not walking the 100 yards in either direction to the almost deserted...
