Yes, please! Fireplace, yummy food, and friendly service. What more could you want? We stopped in looking for a warm spot where we could enjoy good food and each others company without feeling rushed while shopping at Cannon Beach. I’m not nearly as particular as my companions, but I want it delicious. Oros did not disappoint. We decided to eat family style so we could try more things: crab cakes Benedict, fish and chips, Reuben sandwich, creamed spinach soup, coleslaw, and the dirty fries ( truffle oil with garlic, jalapeños and bacon). The Benedict was lovely with housemate Hollandaise sauce over PERFECTLY prepared eggs with flaky, flavorful crab cakes. ( they offered crab Benedict for the purists). The hash-browns were fluffy soft on the inside, crispy on the outside. The creamed spinach soup was the soup of the day and we weren’t expecting much to impress but it was creamy and smooth with a floral overtone and an unexpected depth. The fish and chips had dill in the batter for a generous serving of white, flaky fish. We are very critical of fish and chips and though this wasn’t our favorite recipe, it was yummy and every bite was gone. It’s rare to find a place that has fish AND chips both be good. These fries were DELISH. The Reuben was toasted on a rye that was not overpowering with a balanced portion of meat, Kraut etc. The dirty fries were heavy on jalapeño dices if you are heat sensitive, and were crispy and bursting with flavor but not overpowering. We all discussed how rare it is to have so many delicious / successful plates of such a wide variety in one place. The service was friendly, thorough, and attentive. We don’t drink and often when that happens, service goes down. Not here. Our waters were topped off regularly, wait staff checked in but didn’t intrude- rare when not purchasing alcohol. Andy provided superb, friendly service and knew the dishes well and what to suggest based on our questions. There were specialty drinks available for those interested and seemed popular with the other guests. Food prices were comparable to other restaurants and we felt, had good value with the quality of food, service, variety and ambiance. Definitely a place we will be including as a regular eating spot during our stays...
Read moreDifferent than what you're expecting, and an utterly delightful surprise. It's under the new ownership of a lovely Latino family, and although they have the typical seaside fare you would expect from the restaurant name-- and it's all quite good!-- they've also added some really interesting and unexpected dishes to the menu. More spice, too!
Do not miss: The cocktail list, curated by our server, Salvador. The margarita list alone is worth the trip. All authentic and nothing here made from a mix. If you are adventuresome, the margarita with cucumber and Serrano is fantastic, a little like salsa verde in cocktail form, which sounds odd, but just trust me on this, fam. The clam chowder. Their menu says it's "the best in the world" (yeah yeah, they all say that, right?) but this time it's true. I'm a serious clam chowder snob. And this really was the best I've ever had, hands down. (So much so that we bought extra to take home for dinner AND stopped to get more on our way out of town. And now I'm desolate I won't get to have it again for two years.) The oyster stew with enormous whole oysters is MADE FROM SCRATCH WHEN YOU ORDER IT. The "dirty fries" with Cajun seasoning, jalapenos, cheese, and garlic aoli. I'll be thinking about them for a long, long time.
On a personal note, traveling with a disabled child I also appreciated the quiet atmosphere with no loud music playing. Very calming. Like a respite in the middle of a bustling tourist town. And our server was exceptionally sensitive and helpful with my son.
Our new favorite place in...
Read moreFood: Some food was great with the people I'm with, however I just got some toast and it tasted moldy so I was only able to eat some parts of it, the orange juice is terrible and watered down.
Service: we got a to go order to eat outside since we had a small dog with us. The older gentleman was very rude and condescending about getting a menu, he pointed to the one on the wall and said "the menu is right there" about 3 times before giving up on asking for a handheld menu, meanwhile folks sitting down were holding menus. He was very rude and not customer friendly! I asked for just some toast and the server proceeded to say "he is getting toast and there's two pieces so you can share with him" (okay, thanks for nothing.) he told me husband that his meal comes with a biscuit but can do toast instead, and also charged my husband $4 more for the toast. When we received our to go order, my straw to the orange juice was broken and we didn't get any silverware.
Atmosphere: it's a cute place but the people working inside seem like they hate their job, all gloomy faces with the older gentleman just looking ticked off at everything under the sun. He told me husband to go wait down by the door even though he was told by another server to stand where he was standing to proceed with a tap to pay order..
100% will never go here, and will tell everyone I know to avoid this restaurant. It's a sad excuse and waste of money for a beach breakfast and...
