I went to this place every year with my family since I was a baby, until I was 19. I loved it as a kid, but as I grew I realized it wasn't all that great. It's VERY Christian, suffocatingly so, but I was too in my youth so I liked it well enough until I left the faith. This review is mostly about the food. I went vegan in middle school, still am, and for the years that I went as a vegan, the food they provided was not great. I filled out their dietary form ahead of time AND paid extra for the accomodation, but left the table hungry on multiple occasions due to their either providing me non-vegan foods or completely unpalatable but technically vegan "dishes". On one occasion I was served nothing but a block of tofu, unseasoned, straight out of the package, sitting in its own water on a plate and briefly microwaved. Not even salted. It was clear that whoever organized the meals did not want a vegan to feel welcome, even a Christian one. They seemed annoyed/uncaring when I'd ask for slightly better food/the accomodations I'd paid extra for. Mind, the omnivores at this place ate VERY well. Their carpetball tables were awesome though. They even had tournaments. The location is great, the town is great, the rooms are great, and the carpetball is great. My grandparents went there yearly for over 30 years, maybe even closer to 40. My grandmother even asked for her ashes to be spread there. So, three stars for that and the nostalgia. Minus two stars for the suffocating religious atmosphere and the terrible food for people with dietary...
Read moreWhat they do is very honorable. I cannot get upset by a Christian Organization providing a Christian focus vacation for families. What I can disagree on is how they treat employees (maybe it's changed recently). Like I said above, its a Christian Organization. Therefore, I expected for them to have some sort of service for employees on Sundays....nope. These people were worked extremely hard, but if they cannot participate in worship on Sundays or Bible Study, there, or at a local church in the area how is this place supposed to help them spiritually? It's just another regular job. During the Summertime, you would expect the staff to have some sort of spiritual "theme". Once again, this wasn't the case. Each class (depending on age) had a completely different theme, and sometimes really stretching a translation to fit the narrative of the, yes, teenager "teaching" the class. Parents, be careful. Ask for the notes of the person "teaching" the class. Obviously, the person in charge of the program isn't vetting the lessons. That's all I have to say. Yes, they provide an excellent place that is clean and welcoming, but I believe what I stated above are serious issues considering it effects the spiritual welfare of children...
Read morePretty decent campground for RV'ers. Our site (24) doesn't have privacy but some of the other RV sites do. Not many amenities that I'm aware of, but you're super close to Cannon Beach and the shops, etc.
Good aerial view for Starlink.
NOTE: DON'T PULL YOUR RIG UP TO THE OFFICE! The office is at the back side of the property at the end of the drive. There's no easy way to turn around and It's hard to back up and/or maneuver. Pull your rig and stop at least 50 yards away, preferably 100 yards away and there should be room to turn around from there. And if you have a site near the office, don't try to back your rig into your site if you do pull up to the office. It's easier to turn around and back into your site (if your site is by the office) from the way you came in, AFTER turning around.
SECOND NOTE: check your spot to make sure it has full hookups if you paid for full hookups BEFORE you pull in.
You'll thank me later for these 2 notes.
One more thing: There's a lot of bad reviews on Google from campers on the bathrooms. I don't know, never had to use...
