Modern Ritual — Attraction in Canton

I initially discovered Modern Ritual in 2014 when I was doing a search for area piercing shops who stocked a large selection of body jewelry; to find a shop within a 15 mile drive in this area which stocks more than what one can typically find at your local Hot Topic is rare. My partner and I made the quick trip over and what we discovered in Modern Ritual far exceeded our expectations. The shop is simple, sleek, earthy, immaculately clean, and stocked with beautiful high end body jewelry. Saying all that, I've always believed you can tell a lot by an establishment from their restrooms. Just as immaculate as the showroom, it was outfitted with with a touch-free sink, soap dispenser, waste can, and touch-free facilities. We were helped by Reba, a piercer. We told her we were in to check out septum jewelry. She showed me every piece they had in stock, and while she thorough in explaining the merits of each piece, never once pressured us to buy. I was so impressed by her professionalism, I chose her to pierce my nipples. Just as before, she explained all the jewelry options, from stainless steel to titanium, and was in no rush to close a deal. Anyone can see she's in this business to adorn people and help them feel beautiful. Modern Ritual's piercing room is medical grade, squeaky clean and with an autoclave on premises, clients can feel comfortable knowing the staff cares about the health of their clients. Reba and I had a substantial conversation a about the placement of my new piercings. She took her time and great care in marking the locations to be pierced; she's a consummate professional and super easy to get along with. I won't be pierced...

I brought my daughter in on the 21st of December for a septum piercing for a Christmas gift. It was our first time in the shop and her first piercing. The shop was very clean and the guy at the counter was very nice. After completing our paperwork and paying for the piercing and the aftercare solution we were taken back. The guy stuck her not once, not twice, not three times, but four times with the piercing needle. She was bleeding and in pain, more pain than she should've been in. I wanted to stop it and leave, but she really wanted the piercing so she suffered through the trauma. I was so angry, but I also work in the service industry and he got tipped anyway. Also was told afterward that he was a "guest" piercer. For an over $100 piercing, with tip, it shouldn't take 4 tries and we should have been told that he wasn't the regular piercer because I would've either rescheduled or went elsewhere. If this wasn't in his wheelhouse, then he probably shouldn't be doing them. I have several piercings, not done there, and I NEVER had to be stuck 4 times for any of them. Bad experience and won't be recommending it to anyone.

I'm editing my review from a few months ago. At the time I had only bought jewelry (this is one of the only places I will buy jewelry from now) and had Rob helped me out with a piercing I had got elsewhere. Based off that I will keep my word that Rob is fantastic. Today I got pierced by Reba who also was absolutely fantastic! I'm very picky about who I let pierce me and after having previously been here and having bought jewelry here there was no question that I'd get pierced here. They have such a wide selection of high quality jewelry and they keep everything SO clean. They weren't upset when I asked for spore test results, and showed me proof that everything had been properly sterilized (and my friend who was getting a new gem installed in a CBR for a healed piercing). Their actual piercing area is kept beyond clean and looks medical. Also worth mentioning that on their paperwork for piercing/installing new jewelry they have a section asking about preferred name and pronouns which shows they're friendly and don't discriminate towards people and try to make everyone as comfortable as possible in every way possible.
