Overall it was a good time, with a nice enough place to stay at while out of town. We stayed here for 2 nights, had a 2 bed room on 3rd floor.
Things I liked: Place is very clean! I loved the way the room smelled when walking in idk what it was but I loved it lol. They give you cookies at check in. Staff was friendly. Beds were comfy. Wifi + Stuff on TV.
My complaints: The bathroom door wouldn't lock, or even stay shut idk if this was something about our room or if it's the same in all but it's pretty weird for a bathroom door to not stay shut. Shower includes a glass door and positioned right across a giant mirror, some people may love this but I found it weird being able to see myself shower. Parking is weird, maybe it's not so bad if staying at a time it's slow but when attending for an event it's very limited parking unless you pay to park in the parking garage across the street which isn't ideal when having stuff to transport into the hotel. You must have a room key to use the elevator, at first this didn't bother me as I thought of it as a safety precaution, however later realizing there's access to an open staircase clearly seen in the lobby, it's just pointless and frustrating if you forget your key card because you're thinking oh my friends in the room so I don't need it, get to the elevator ... ah sh*t that's right. The cookies are it, no free breakfast. :( I personally didn't mess with the air in the room but my friend said it wasn't able to adjust, the unit by the window says to use the thermostat on the wall which she tried but it wouldn't actually change. It was pretty dang cold, which was nice at times but well cold at others.
Overall I'd say if you find yourself in Canton needing a place to stay, it's good enough to try out. Plus I didn't really see many other options nearby. You can trust you'll have a clean room, something to watch, able to connect online, and a nice bed to sleep in. Oh and a cookie.
Almost forgot, the coffee maker in the room may or may not cause some confusion because it's the kind that takes pods but it looks like they've stocked you with a basket of regular type coffee and tea hotels have in the little bags. But if you open the bag you'll find it's a little circle pouch that you just toss into...
Read moreThere is a $40 additional "amenities" fee you have to pay that is not mentioned on their site or when I called. The idea is, you can eat at their bar or restaurant and deduct those charges if you want from those fees. Then it takes 5 to 10 days to get that back if you don't use it. So I m out 80 bucks until they return that money to me.
The overnight front desk lady is rude, condescending and when I brought up the issue of the poor quality linens and how it all feels like its a hospital bed. She just said oh they are "new" so they are good. Apprently that was supposed to end our interactions? I said no they are not "good" and showed her the picture which shows you can see right through it. She didnt care and I had to demand for an additional blanket. She reluctantly goes to check. Which is what she said "I can go check but I don't know" she comes back with a balled up blanket. And she's says this is all I have i don't have anything else cleaned. So she hands me another thin quilt which we just left outside our door because it looked like she pulled it from a hamper. She then says that in all the hotels she's worked at they are the same. To which I reminded her that I just told her that we just stayed a few other places and they all had better linen so no its not all the same. A very rude overnight front desk person. The only staff who has been great are the maintenance guys. The overnight maintenance staff brought us a normal standard blanket that had more thickness to it then the 3sheets and downfeather sad excuse of a quilt had. AT LEAST he actually tried and listened to us and wasn't rude or trying to convince us we were wrong like the overnight front desk lady. We just wanted to get some sleep. We are here in Canton until Monday and may extend another day since we are looking at various properties. But since we couldn't sleep. We have packed up and will be checking out in few hours and will stay somewhere,...
Read moreMade a little trip from Buffalo NY to Canton to see the Pro football HOF. After some time researching the area and hotels, i settled on Doubletree downtown. Every worker we came across was very friendly and helpful. They really made us feel welcomed and at home. I loved the location. Its a quiet area. Very easy to get to. I never like hotels along the interstate because theyre so loud so this was a perfecr location. They offered free street parking or there was a garage on the opposite for for $8 a night. I opted for the extra security of the garage. There was even a 2nd level covered walkway from the garage to the hotel. You need keycards to access the doors, elevators etc. I liked the added security. Just dont leave your room without it! Lol. The pool was nice. The weight room i didnt have time to use but i was impressed with what it had. I gor a dluble queen room, the beds were great but the room was a bit cramped. Which isnt necessarily a bad thing, but personally my next trip i would try and find a larger suite. The restaurant attached had some great food and dessert. They offer a breakfast buffet for $18 a person [my son was $10]. Honestly i think my next trip id skip the breakfast buffey and opt for a local diner. 1 egg choice, pancakes sit in a warmer and were pretty hard. The fresh fruit and yogurt parfait was good though. Thetes also a little 'market' just to the right of the front desk. They have a large variety of chips, candy bars, gummies, ice cream etc as well as fresh to-go meals from the restaurant. Sandwiches, salads, pasta dinners etc. Overall i was very happy with my choice and we are already planning our next trip and will be choosing Doubletree downtown canton again.
To summarize: Great location. Great pricing. Friendly staff. Great lunch/dinner at restaurant. Breakfast buffet was convenient but meh. Get a suite if you'd want...
