Cherie Down Park holds a special place in my heart as one of the first places I visited upon moving to Merritt Island. Situated right on the beach, this park offers breathtaking views and memorable experiences.
On my very first day in the area, I had the incredible opportunity to watch a space launch from the park's beach. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that left me in awe of the wonders of space exploration. The combination of the picturesque beach setting and the exhilarating sight of a rocket ascending into the sky made for an unforgettable moment.
One of the standout features of Cherie Down Park is the free parking available to visitors. This is a huge plus, especially for those looking to spend a day at the beach without worrying about parking fees. The convenience of free parking adds to the overall appeal of the park and makes it an accessible destination for locals and tourists alike.
In addition to the spectacular views and free parking, Cherie Down Park offers amenities such as picnic areas and restroom facilities, making it a comfortable and enjoyable place to spend time outdoors. Whether you're looking to relax on the beach, catch a glimpse of a space launch, or simply take in the natural beauty of the area, Cherie Down Park has something for everyone.
Overall, my experience at Cherie Down Park was nothing short of amazing. From the stunning beach views to the excitement of witnessing a space launch, it exceeded my expectations in every way. I look forward to returning to this beautiful park time and time again to create more...
Read moreNice beach area. This parking lot was full at noon on a Saturday, and we ended up finding a spot six streets down. It’s kind of cool how these streets are named after presidents. We started on Washington, but eventually found a spot on Jackson. There are only like 5-10 spots on each road/public beach access, but at least it’s free! Try to park your vehicle closer to this area though, it’s the closest spot with restrooms and a place to wash sand off. Other beach accesses don’t have that. A lot of people were leaving around 3-4PM, so there were plenty of spots to park at that time. There was dried up seaweed on the beach. Some seaweed mainly near the ocean floor when you’re walking into the water. Sand was soft walking in and no shells that would hurt your feet. Waves weren’t too big. I could go about waist high and be good to float around without the waves going over my head. Check daily though, I read a review about two weeks ago how three people drowned because of rip tides around here. No lifeguard stands. Today’s conditions were...

More importantly there was 3 Haitian or African guys and a women in a silver SUV. An older Toyota or Dodge. Since the showers were not working my daughter (13) went to use the sinks to clean her shoes. While walking back one of the guys walking a dog told my daughter she looks nice in her bathing suit. I was keeping an eye on her. After that guy kept walking the 2 guys and women in the car literally reversed and went towards my daughter. She already was uncomfortable so she was 2 feet from our car. I watched the car back up.They realized I and my friends were watching them very closely. So They took off. They were over dressed for the beach. It was just very sketchy. Watch your girls. And ladies please stick together. They thought my daughter was alone because they didn't see me. It was very scary. Side note I am African American and so are my friends. This is not a race thing. Just a...
